its less like an Internet Song I think and more like a "I spend too much time on twitter song" I suppose
It's billed as an Internet song, and people think of it as an Internet song. That one bit after the chorus literally says 'the Internet used to be so much better because it was more personal.' It's literally called 'Welcome to the Internet'
That's what annoys me about it actually. It's somebody who's basically just complaining about his own Twitter addiction but he paints his experience as if it's the entire history of everything.
top five fields of research

Medicine. I think this one is obvious. People in engineering/phys/maths/compsci can bitch all they want about this but like. be for real right now. Part of this is that my mum and one of my best friends are a nurse and doctor. Part of this is that I'm trans and neurodivergent and rely on it so much.
Psychology. Didn't have a chance to study it personally, and I didn't at uni because you either end up as a therapist or marketer, but it's genuinely one of the most fascinating things about world. It's the only field outside of my subject which I've quoted (and vaguely read) studies of. It has lots of problems with discrimination within the field and miscommunication to the public, but it's so fucking interesting seeing why people act the way they do. It's also one of those really cool fields where the results are both terrifying and comforting.
Engineering. I tried to get away from this like 5 years ago after I had a bad time with imposter syndrome during DT class, but I guess it's never left me. I can never really stop viewing things as from a design perspective when I go out into the world. Plus my projects nowadays are always like, part engineering. Favourite subfields are probably electronics and software, because they're the ones I've been involved with over the years.
Fine art. There's a reason why I took it up until uni. So fucking much you can do with it. I find it beautiful that art history (undervalued as it is), and even all of history at large doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of what you can do with visuals. And drawing is a skill you can never really cap out at. You just get better and better at it. You express things more and more.
Maths. Something about maths has always scratched my brain, I think. It's one of the few subjects you can do just by like. Thinking about it. And the simple act of writing things down correctly makes it real. And the way doing this uncovers actual behaviour in the real fucking world is nothing short of magic to me. Is it invented? Is it discovered? I couldn't care less personally. I love how it works. Just don't make me do the super hard pure stuff.

I was talking with a colleague who mentioned a paper where small RNA molecules were placed in solution within a PCR well with primers to provide selective pressure. The paper found that the RNA favored forming larger molecules. They didn't mention the name or author of the paper and I can't seem to find the paper online, does anyone else recognize it or would be able to find it?
