Hello and welcome to the Murmur Dev Blog Series (?)! Murmur (name may change later!) is going to be a turn-based RPG horror game, and our protagonist’s name? well, it’s Murmur, of course!

Murmur’s design and character was based off a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach. Sounds a little scary, right? However, some people keep these little guys as exotic pets!

This might be a bit long, so if you’re interested in Murmur and want to learn more about the setting and character himself, you can read more under the cut!

About the setting of the story: the city of Malfate is where we find Murmur. Throughout this world, the people who inhabit it have special powers, ranging from classical super strength and speed to noise manipulation and insect communication and transformation. Guess who has those last two abilities? While some people have increased speed and strength past the normal limits, the people of the world are much stronger and faster than humans.

As these roaches like dark places, Murmur goes to nightly classes at Malfate High School. Malfate High has a system of battling between students to let their abilities grow and maintain their potency. Four teams represent different parts of the student body, and each student can pick one of the four teams to join. Two mainly daytime teams: the Vermillion Brawlers and the Silver Slash, as well as two mainly nighttime teams: the Charcoal Gladiators and the Indigo Regalia, encompass the school’s students’ resolve to be the best of the best.

Murmur has joined the Indigo Regalia, and is seen as unfit for the team by most of the students in school; some of his own teammates disagree with his choice! Murmur is determined to not let them get him down, and his love for battling will prove this to everyone...or so he hopes.

And yet, they’re all--at the very least, slightly--worried for themselves as news of strange markings begin to appear on buildings. Efforts to remove the “paint” off the buildings seems to be failing...
