WHAT : ROAMtransmissions & Vouched Books Present: ROAM in the Ruins: A Communal Listening Experience for the End Times
WHERE : The Big House On Ponce, 368 Ponce De Leon Ave., Atlanta, GA
WHEN : Sunday, November 23 @ 7 p.m.
PRICE : $5 suggested donation (3 cans of food = 1 free cocktail!)
DESCRIPTION : The Big House on Ponce proudly hosts ROAMtransmissions and Vouched books for a genre-fusing post-apocalyptic listening experience. This literary/sound installation will feature original works and recordings from eight different authors and will be played at The Big House’s backyard theater, which will be converted into a nuclear stronghold. Listeners will commune with fellow survivors as our readers’ pre-recorded and sonically enhanced performances are broadcast on continuous loops like a series of avant garde PSA’s. The airing will take place on Sunday, November 23, 2014 and will commence at 7 p.m.
Those familiar with Orson Welles’s War of the Worlds broadcast or Cormac McCarthy’s The Road or Mad Max will know exactly what we’re going for. There will be radioactive cocktails and non-perishable noshables to complement the postapocalyptic ambience. Come usher in the end of the world and celebrate the debut of ROAM’s final release of 2014! Our literary/sound installation will also double as a canned food drive to help those in need during the holiday season.
