Is Architecture Necessary? Share your thoughts in the comments! As the Tate Modern has become a crucial cultural attraction of London since it opened in 2000, the 64.5-metre-high tower created 60 percent more exhibition space for the gallery. A building conglomerate is created as the new spaces are connected with the existing galleries and the project appeared as one thing, not as separate phases at the end. The Gallery features an exterior of latticed brickwork and folded surfaces, while its interior includes an assortment of overground and underground galleries, as well as a new roof terrace offering panoramic views of the city. "Whereas the original Tate Modern was about revealing existing infrastructure, the extension is about building infrastructure," explained Ascan Mergenthaler, a senior partner at Herzog & De Meuron. 🖋 @herzogdemeuron 📍 #London #UK 📸 @bywojtek ——————————————————————— #herzogdemeuron #brick #bricks #brickbuilding #digitaldesign #digitalfabrication #design #computationaldesign #algorithmicdesign #roboticarchitecture #robarch #architecturelovers #digitalfabrication #fabrication #architectureporn #archdaily #archilove #parametricdesign #digitalfabrication #architecture #architecturedesign #archidaily #archilovers #grasshopper3d #rhino #rhinoceros #parametricarchitecture (at London, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CETVCymBUGi/?igshid=1prjk0yclq68m
