8, 12, 15, and 28 (though I just saw you read them out of order and spoiled it all and I gotta say I am absolutely howling with laughter I'm so sorry)
8. Favorite Moroi?
Christian! I love my little snarky emo boi, and his fire skills are badass as hell. I love that scene in Shadow Kiss where he and Rose team up. Also he has been through so much trauma and he's just prickly because it's an act of self protection. Someone needs to give that boy some therapy.
12. Which spirit ability would you want the most? (Ie dream walking, healing, compulsion, mind reading, aura reading etc.)
I feel like this is the basic answer, but I'd love to be able to read auras. The way Adrian describes it is just so beautiful. I would also love the dream walking, but if I had to pick one it would be seeing auras. Like seeing Adrian basically fall in love with Sydney through her aura, byeee I am deceased imagine the deep bond and connection that would forge between you. I want that.
Also, am I crazy or does Sonya or Robert have telekinesis powers when they're fighting in Last Sacrifice??? I remember a chair hitting Rose in the back, and I genuinely can't remember if someone threw that or if it was a spirit ability but holy shit that was wild.
EDIT: I went back and checked and yes Robert literally has telekinetic abilities. I feel like we as a fandom all collectively forgot that.
15. Favorite book in the series?
There is not a more difficult question for me to answer. Can I say all of them? Because I'm an absolute sucker for romitri I've probably got to say that Shadow Kiss is my favourite overall, but then I have favourite scenes and moments in all of the others, especially Blood Promise and Last Sacrifice. And then I loveeee The Golden Lily and The Indigo Spell, and omg Silver Shadows. They're all too good, it's like asking a mother to pick her favourite child.
28. Most shocking plot twist?
I mean yeah I already knew about Victor's betrayal, Dimitri turning, the attack on the school, the events in Russia... all because I read everything out of order lmao. But the whole Tasha reveal scene I was not expecting. That totally shocked me (and honestly the evidence regarding that still confuses me to this day) but then Rose getting fUCKING SHOT UM HELLO I had to flick to the next page to make sure she was alive before I finished reading the chapter. I genuinely thought Richelle was killing off her main character and had a mini heart attack
"No. You cannot. It's like nothing you can imagine. Nothing. Right now...right now...you have the world. A universe of senses beyond those of others, an understanding of another person that no one can have. To lose that...to have that ripped away...it would make you wish for death."
After creating a little army if his own, Robert hunts down Rose and Dimitri's family and friends, as a way to show them what it feels like to have someone dear taken away from them.
Characters: Jill Mastrano Dragomir and Robert Doru
Word Count: 1433
Description: Months after the events that happened at The Sunshine Hotel that lead to the death of Victor Dashkov, his brother Robert Doru decides to check in with Jill with a spirit dream, as he remembers that she was very important to his brother.
Notes: This has been written and posted, i haven't re-read it through so it is very rough.
There was sudden chaos and people moving everywhere. Guardian’s in battle mode, defending the Moroi, or more specifically, the queen of the Moroi. Everything was moving fast and Jill was backing herself up towards a wall to get out of the way, she was scared and didn’t know what was going on.
“What’s going on?” she called out as everything changed around her, panic from the dream was still around her, but there was something different now, something she had experienced before. She was getting pulled into a spirit dream. “Sonya, where are you?” She called out, a little concerned as she looked around the dream started materializing around her. She was somewhere familiar, somewhere that she hadn’t been for a very long time, The Sunshine Motel.
Panic ran through her again as the memories of what happened here in the real world a few months back. She realised then that Sonya wouldn’t have brought her here, that when the chill ran down her spine.
“Robert?” she spoke out quietly. “Where are you?”
She rose to her feet, the pain in her chest had vanished, she was finally able to breathe again and that is when she spotted him, staring at her with a look of confusion. “What happened to you? You’re…. Shadow kissed.” He spoke quietly, till staring at her, obviously studying her aura.
“Robert, why did you bring me into this dream?” She asked, trying to keep her voice calm, she knew he would be able to see how anxious she was by her aura though. The last time Jill had seen Robert, Spirit was well and truly taking its toll on him, he had also been very distraught when Dimitri had dragged him away to knock him unconscious before he had the chance to bring his brother back from the dead.
“I had to see you Jillian, I remember… Victor kept saying how important you were, we need you for our plans to work.” He spoke, as if somewhat pleased with himself for remembering that though his eyes were still on her warily. “Jillian, what happened to you? Why are you shadow kissed? Where is my brother? Why did you both leave me back here?” his pleased expression started turning, his paranoia and skittish behaviour starting to come back through.
Jill stood there silent for a moment; she was stunned by his question. They had both witnessed what had happened with Victor Dashkov, his death was one of the many things she had witnessed in the last year, one of the many things that still haunted her in their own ways. She realised then that Robert didn’t remember, the look on his face said it all, he full of concern as he asked where his brother was.
She was going to try and snap herself out of the dream, but she glances back over at him and her heart dropped a little, she couldn’t leave him with no answers, to either never figure it out or to remember on his own. She took a deep breath before speaking. “It’s been many months since I’ve seen you, since we were here Mr Doru. I-“
“Months? What are you talking about Jillian; it’s only been a few days. You and Victor just disappeared… I woke up out the back of the motel in the bushed with a rather large headache and you two were gone… what happened... why can’t I get into Victor’s dreams? I’ve been trying for days.” He spoke with his voice full of desperation, he needed to find his brother, and he needed to know that he was safe.
Jill watched him; her earlier panic from seeing him was gone. She seen this broken man in front of her, one that was extremely loyal to his brother, his big brown eyes full of hope and she was about to crush all of that.
“Please you have to listen to me.” She spoke calmly as she stepped slowly towards him, remembering that he can be very paranoid about people, she kept a safe distance between them. “Something happened that day, something that I wish I couldn’t remember and something you obviously don’t.” She paused again, unable to look at him in the eye and see his heart break all over again. “Victor Dashkov died when we were going to leave the hotel. You two had me compelled and my friends we’re coming to rescue me. There was a struggle and unfortunately Victor didn’t make it. They dragged you away before you could bring him back shadow kissed like me.” She spoke low and fast, she knew that he would be able to hear her.
She dared to peek over at him, and she almost wished that she didn’t. The pain in his eyes was clear as she realised that he was remembering what had happened. She stepped closer again, wanting to comfort him in some way. He may have kidnapped her in the past, but losing someone was something hard to go through and she didn’t want him to go through it alone. Not with how spirit can be and Robert had been using Spirit a lot longer than what Adrian had been. Robert was unstable, he could snap at any moment without warning. It still didn’t stop Jill from moving closer to him.
As she got about three small steps away he looked over at her, his expression had changed; it was darker now and took Jill by surprise. There was still sorrow there, that sorrow and pain will never leave him.
“Don’t touch me, don’t even come near me.” He glared at her. “This was your fault, you and your stupid friends fault. I lost my brother because of you.” He moved away and started pacing. “Why didn’t you stop them, you should have stopped them… I have no one now… I lost them all… He is my brother and you wouldn’t even let me save him… You killed him.” He looked straight at her as he said those last three words.
Jill stood there stunned, unable to comprehend what he has just said to her, she wanted to get out of the dream but with his emotions running so high and her mind not thinking clearly she didn’t have the focus to be able to try it.
“Please Mr Doru… Robert, listen to me, please.... I didn’t do anything… Rose didn’t mean to do it. It was the Darkness… You know all about the Darkness and I’m learning all about it too… She had no control over herself. You didn’t see her afterwards; she was broken and riddled with guilt. I don’t think she will ever fully get over what she did, it shouldn’t have ended that way but it did and I’m sorry… I know it doesn’t bring him back but I am sorry for your brother’s death.” She stopped and took a deep breath, trying to keep her mind clear, trying not to allow herself to cry over this, but it was hard. Seeing him there; broken and angry over the loss of his brother.
He looked over at her again, a hard expression on his face before quickly speaking. “I’ll see you again Jillian, You’re a kind heart and that is your one down fall, but you’re also still far too valuable to my brother’s plans.”
And before Jill could even ask him what that meant the dream was ended and she sat up quickly in her bead, sweat covered her boy and her hair stuck to her face. She wiped her hair away and grabbed the bottle of water from her nightstand, taking a few large gulps before reaching for her phone, dialing Rose’s number.
