Apart from celebrating #eccentricity & the arts & giving us #opera (discovered & nurtured by #mariedemedici who brought it to London when she moved here in 1638 & transformed StJames'sPalace into the most famous salon in #Europe #theatre from the #Puritans ) parks #high-heel #shoes #fashion #tea #salons #spaniels & they also bequeathed us their belief that women were to be valued for their minds as much as their bo Stuart & Medici's bequeathed us almost everything we celebrate as British from 1603 when #maryqueenofscots son #JamesI was crowned to 1714 when our last Stuart Monarch #QueenAnne died. When #princewilliam takes the throne he will be our first Stuart monarch since Queen Anne's death in 1714 after which Parliament invited the German court of Hanover to take the place of her direct heir, the much loved son of King James II who was exiled for attempting to make religion a matter of every individuals own conscience without prejudice.
