The Starchild CD Single Collection was a reissue of numerous 1980s robot anime theme songs previously released on the 7 inch vinyl single format. The 8cm CD single format, (an obscure format used for almost every single release in the Japanese music industry from the late 1980s through to the beginning of the 2000s) was fairly new at the time, and the 17 reissues were released from August 1988 to August 1989. Titles included "Zeta Gundam", "Gundam ZZ", "SPT Layzner", "Heavy Metal L-Gaim", "Metal Armor Dragonar", "Aura Battler Dunbine", "Armored Trooper Votoms", "Xabungle", "Dougram", "Space Runaway Ideon", the "Gundam" movies and "New Story of Aura Battler Dunbine" aka "The Tale of Neo Byston Well".
