No, Damballah doesn't do that work because that sort of thing is not done in actual vodou. No lwa goes around putting souls in dolls--both because our souls are far too precious and because 'voodoo dolls' are not a thing.

Ah! I did know “voodoo dolls” weren’t really a thing (Tho the similar poppets, from European witchcraft, actually are), but thanks for the confirmation!

I suspect that idea came from a writer thinking they were being clever, but they ended up looking through voudou as a collection of tropes rather than; yanno; an actual religion.

Which is always a shame, given that in almost all cases the actual accurate portrayal of religion/stories is way more interesting than the watered down white take on it. See also: Hinduism.

I don’t doubt that, but I’m still pretty strongly in Do Not Want land, and I haven’t yet gotten any reasons from my gods that have changed that attitude. The usual “it will be a growth and learning experience, help you reach certain goals” (liberally sprinkled with reassurances), is just not cutting it this time :|

I super appreciate the confirmation on Rockofeye (I stopped following them a couple months ago because how they handled some stuff set off warnings). However, the blogger recommend seemed to misgender Rockofeye in his response to you which as a trans person was triggering. I’m unsure if it was a mistake or not and I definitely understand wanting to promote the legitimate people in the online community, but I was wondering if this was typical of his blog and if I should then avoid his blog then.

Yes, @rockofeye is trans and his pronouns are he/him. I’m nonbinary and no matter how much I may personally dislike someone I’d never intentionally misgender them or use the wrong pronouns. I don’t think this was @vudutarot’s intention at all tbh and I’m very sure that was just a slip up, but I’m not gonna speak for him so you should take this up with him if you’re concerned. It’s not my responsibility what someone else commented on my post - that really has nothing to do with me and wasn’t said by me.
