Stream of Consciousness Simming

I like Sims 2 and people who like Sims 2.

OK so… I went back on what I said and started messing with Sims 2 >_>;  Been having a rough couple of weeks and it turns out troubleshooting is a good way to distract the mind.

I’ve got it working initially:  game loads, neighborhoods load, lots load.  Haven’t actually played, so it stands to be seen if I will get random crashing or pink soup.

Added my download folder back in and…

I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT PC SPECS WOULDN’T AFFECT LOAD TIME FOR MODS??

Man, my game loaded in, like, 2 minutes??  It used to take 10??

Still got all that messing around with the installation file stuff to do.  Clean templates and all that fun stuff.

Semi-false alarm about the game loading faster?  Turns out...  I missed copying over my body shop and buy mode folders (where the majority of my CC resides).  It still loads faster but not quite that fast!

Gonna play test over the weekend, I think.  Wanted to try out a different lighting mod, but it made things very blown out, so back to radiance I go.  Then there’s so many little things you realize you’re missing.  You never think about CEP again after you install it.  Then you reinstall and realize you can’t change the color of those OFB windows and go ohhhh...

Beaulah, what’re you up to?  The only person who dislikes her is Rich, so he must be working double overtime spreading rumors.  Although...  considering his wife left him and his son moved to Pleasantview, he really doesn’t have anything else going on.

Turns out that program worked for one (1!) screenshot and then would only take pictures of my desktop instead of the game.  But I found out my graphic card’s software will take screenshots!  Then, while configuring it, I discovered it uses ctrl-shift-c to toggle a setting which was probably what was causing my earlier issues!  So I changed that as well.  Now all is hopefully right with the world??

Yay!  I found a new screenshot program : )  Tested by taking a picture of Pascal, his husband Nervous, and their three beautiful daughters.  As it should be.

Any ideas why the cheat command ctrl-shift-c would just… not work?

Started getting purple soup in my game in addition to the crashes so tried another fix which supposedly required the game to only run in windowed mode.  Which I cannot abide because edge scrolling is my jam.  But the guide was written 2 years ago and the file had been updated since then soo maaybe they had fixed it?  So I tried it full screen and it worked!  Hooray!  Buuut… now I can’t open the cheat console.  Booo!  : (

I swear, everything I do to fix something causes another random thing to break.

Took a 4 hour nap (I’ve been sick) then booted up the game to try @withlovefromsimtown’s advice but tried it normally first and... it just worked normally? I don’t even know anymore but thank you to them and @penig for helping :,)

Got inspired by the pretty pics on my dash to play my old pleasantlystrangespot hood.  Mary’s kids are really getting along.

Anyway, anyway, had a snafu with my computer a few months ago.  The graphics card died and I had to get a new one and then some program wasn’t working and I had to “upgrade” to windows 10.  SO.  That particular combination led to a whole new series of problems such as and including:  fraps doesn’t work, Sims 2 crashes more when it barely ever did before, and Photoshop CS4 is buggy as all hell.

Now I’m working on building a new PC very slowly as I buy a new part every paycheck/month.  Aaaand my RAM that was supposed to come in yesterday buuut got delivered to the wrong address probably? because we got a neighbor’s medication instead!  But once I solve that I’ll just need to get the processor and better graphic card (nvidia this time!) which will hopefully drop in price after the new year because new ones are coming out apparently?  Phew...

Holy crap, I found my first real Sims neighborhood.  The OG Riverblossom Hills!  All the family portraits have my weird mish mash of CC from when I was a baby Simmer :,)  It’ll be a miracle if I can load a household.
