Realm of Dead Gods

The Realm of Dead Gods and Forgotten Nightmares, normally abbreviated to the Realm of Dead Gods or just RODG, is a science-fiction post-post-apocalyptic universe initially (and primarily) inspired by the lovely Caretaker's Amber Skies. (which is now complete!) I have since gathered more inspirations, like David Armsby's Autodale, the video game Rain World, the short story Sonnie's Edge, and even some broad worldbuilding notes from Dark Souls.

It is a world of ends. Of worlds built over and over and over eachother, until it is no longer meaningful to distinguish between ground and roof. It is a world where apocalypses have became so commonplace as to be simply another cycle.

Water moves from ocean to sky to land to ocean; carbon passes between the ground, the land, the sky, and plants and animals and whatever else may be considered alive; and every few centuries the land and air become too hostile to the current inhabitants, and new creatures arise to take their place.

It is a world of ends, of rot and decay and death, but it is also of resilience, of green as the color of hope. Hope in an affirmative indicator light, hope in oxidized copper, hope in one-third an RGB display.

The Realm of Dead Gods and Forgotten Nightmares is about an industrial car lot, massive like a desert, paved in asphalt and concrete and left to wear and weather. Repaired so many times it becomes more mastic than asphalt, and then left without repairs for a hundred times longer, until it is so cracked through with empty space it no longer resembles anything that could have once been flat. But it is also about the single tiny sprout—stem so thin it seems a single drop of water could snap it in half; leaves so small it's a wonder it can gather any energy at all from the polluted, permanently overcast sky; but still it grows in defiance, glowing the brightest shade of hope there is.
