I was talking with @eldrxtch about how it can be hard to draw a character from FFXIV when you're not used to drawing the race they're actually from (e.g. drawing a Lalafell but defaulting to more natural head proportions)

While watching him draw his character Daoloth with and without refs, I elected to do something similar- namely trying to emulate the game's appearance of Bori, drawing him how I always do, tracing a screenshot, then drawing him stylistically based on said screenshot. It was fun, especially since my hands haven't wanted to cooperate with me today!

I know I post fuck-all on here but I got to see my Roebro get a glow-up today and you are going to Look At Him. Right now, the whole graphics update seems to be a bit controversial (MoonKeepers losing their fangs, Veena losing their big pupils, lips/teeth looking odd on some races, etc) but beyond a bit of over-smoothing, I think they did awesome on the Roebros! I can't speak for everyone else, I just think Bori looks really good. They even reduced the gap between the jaw and the beard! I hated whenever the camera was put at an angle that made it sound out- which is unfortunately often.

This took me just over three weeks to get finished- all for an art prompt I saw on BlueSky to draw your WOL in the style of a specific panel from Witch Hat Atelier. I was aiming for a stained glass look, and though I think I deviated a bit for the DawnTrail frame, I think I nailed it.

My boy Bori as an Arcadion fighter: The Paillot, a Paissa infusion done as the result of a lost bet that -much to Bori's chagrin- took off in popularity immediately, due to his clever implementation of old school air force themes and leaning VERY hard into being a noble hero who's off fighting ne'er-do-wells so that he doesn't have to shift any more than he absolutely has to.

This is, of course, not canon, but the idea of him being an unwilling star in another sense was too funny not to play with.

It's been a month, but I still strongly remember something that had occurred on the night I put my dog down. I know that it doesn't have a very... I guess smooth flow to it, but in my defense, it's kind of hard to maintain quality when working on something makes me as emotional as this did. I still miss Heidi very dearly, and I can only hope this captures at least a fraction of how I felt about that night.
