Inversia is finally released!
I’m going to be honest with all of you, I started making this game and I enjoyed it a lot, but as it progressed, it got very boring and repetitive to make. In the final build there is 10 stages, with the old 4-1 being the final stage. I have also removed the unlockable skins. Because of these cuts, I have made the game 100% free because I felt like I didn’t put much effort into the game. Sorry for the loss of content, but I’m so relieved to have that weight lifted off my shoulders.
Anyway, so the game has been released on GameJolt here:

I hope you like it! Here’s some screenshots and the game’s page:
Stage 4-1 Gameplay Demonstration & New Info
So, I will make Inversia completely free when it’s released. Yep, that’s right, you don’t have to pay a penny. My next game, Project: RDN, will be.
Title change. Again.
Inversia
So I am now planning on releasing the game on GameJolt as it is a much easier and simpler process than Steam, but there is already two games on there named Inverse. So, this is the new title.
An update!
(Wow, it took you long enough...)
11/12/16 (12/11/16)
So, where am I with development? Here’s a little hint:
Yep, the final zone’s level select is finished. Now I just need to polish it up so it is 100% functional. For those who don’t know, this game is a short game. But it won’t feel like it, because this is not an easy game at all. You will start to get better as you go along, but it is still very difficult. I’ll have some footage of Zone 4 going up on here this week, so keep an eye on my profile if you are interested.
Anyway, other than that, I have added in some features. I have hidden 5 tokens throughout the game to spice up the ball’s look so it isn’t so bare all the time. The way to get these tokens are to intentionally avoid pressing the button of a barrier at certain points in certain levels.
I have also added in a feature to back out into the stage select menu by pressing the Esc key on the keyboard, even if you are using a controller.
On the starting screen, I have changed it so “New Game” and “Continue” have been switched out for a single “Start Game” button. I didn’t see the point or need in choosing to start a new game, especially with the level select feature. I have also added two new menus called “Controls” and “Skins”.
I have changed the music in Zone 2 so now all of the music is by Silverman Sound Studios due to the fact that Evan King has not confirmed that I can use his music commercially, but SSS has.
In Stage 4-1, it uses a different style to the other stages and completely relies on pattern memorisation. The stage will be shown off later this week.
Zone Vinesauce info
As stated before, Zone Vinesauce is no longer a thing, at least in the main game, anyway. I felt as if I was using Vinesauce’s name and hard work to boost myself and get my game shown. I did not like this approach to it at all, and scrapped the idea of it altogether. I have thought about making a fan-game version with new stages that would be free of charge based on them, but right now, I want to finish this and get started on Project: RDN as soon as possible. I hope you understand.
That’s all for now.
2 Stages Left!
I only have 2 more stages left to develop for Inverse. Development is going to speed up dramatically over the next week and I should be able to finish it by the end of it. I would post a new demo, but the game is over 85% finished already, so I don’t want to give too much of it out for free.
There are also some skins that you can find and unlock throughout the stages and some of which are a hint to future games and ideas. A new trailer and gameplay demonstration video will be up over next week, too.
Don’t worry, I’m not dead. Neither is Inverse.
I’m just very busy right now. but hey, I have an update on when the game will (hopefully) be released. I wan’t to get it out around early 2017. After that, I will start on my next project, which I am currently going to dub “Project RDN” for now.
If I work on a screen daily (a stage, level select screen, etc,) I can finish within 40 days or less. But it will take longer because of time off, Christmas is coming up and I need to buy a license for Steam Greenlight, I need to sort out college stuff, all of that jazz. So, I am looking for development to be finished, polished and complete around January.
Thanks!
- Ryan
Update!
19/10/16 (10/19/16)
So Zone 2 has been completed for a while now and Zone 3 is in development. I needed to think of new ways of starting the level instead of the usual dropping onto a ramp to get your initial momentum. So, what did I do to fix that? I start you off by dropping you onto a ramp in inverted gravity! *gasp*
I haven’t got any footage to show you because my nw.js loader has stopped working for some reason so I need to reinstall Construct 2. In the mean time, I am testing it by running it Through Google Chrome. It’s literally the same though, so don’t worry about things like “But what if there’s a bug caused by running it through the browser and not nw.js or vice versa?” because they are almost identical in how they run the game itself.
Aspect Ratios other than 16:9
Yeah, kind of. The game natively runs at 16:9 so you will have black bars. That’s something you can’t really change in a 2D specific engine. Sorry!
What’s the news on the Limealicious level?
None so far. That is going to be one of the final levels you get as a bonus for completing the game. I want there to be 8 Zones and once you beat all of them you gain access to (hopefully) Zone Vinesauce. I have permission from Limes and I REALLY want permission from Vinny and Joel (Damn timezones! I’m never awake when Vinny streams! Also, Joel hasn’t streamed in a while so I haven’t had the opportunity to do so.). If I can’t get their permission by that time, then I’ll base the bonus stages on other streamers or YouTubers.
When will it be released?
I’m hoping to get it on Greenlight by mid-January and a release around late February to March. After that, I will instantly start on another project. But for now, it’s a secret! The only thing I will tell you though, is that it is a fresh take on an old, sweet formula. Imagine your favourite chocolate that is classic and you never want it to change, but it does and the change is unexpectedly good. Oh, and it will have a nice story too. I’m gonna pour my heart and soul into that.
So yeah, that’s it for now. Hopefully I will get more updates and information on the game more regularly now.
