CHELSEA SLOANE
Woo, let’s do this :D
B A S I C S
full name: Chelsea Mallory Sloan. Known as Synapse within Firewall.
gender: Female.
sexuality: Pansexual and generally mostly only concerned with not dating jerks.
pronouns: she/her
O T H E R S
family: Mother died in the Fall, father left with a brinker group in AF 3 to find a new life after hearing that Chelsea had died. Jenn’s family has historically been fond of having Chelsea around, though they probably don’t yet know she’s still alive.
birthplace: Somewhere in LA County, California.
job: Officially, a couple of different cover jobs, including “cool hunter”. Off the books, a Firewall sentinel, keeping the solar system safe.
phobias: The TITANs, the entity that created them and the ETI, and the capabilities of her own brain.
guilty pleasures: Cannabis. More specifically, joints; she doesn’t feel as bad about edibles because they’re not as hard on her body.
M O R A L S
morality alignment?: Chaotic Good. Punk rock to the core.
sins - Envy. Grew up kind of poor (as far as white people from pre-Fall North America could be poor), and feels that she missed a lot of the chances given to others, like heavy gene-modding. In recent years, envies people who don’t have to deal with the whole “being infected with the alien psychic brain virus” thing.
virtues - Charity. When she got infected with said alien brain virus, her overriding instincts were to prevent herself from becoming a threat to others, by any means necessary.
T H I S - O R - T H A T
introvert/extrovert: Just barely an extrovert, I guess. Likes being around people and is a bit of a party animal, but definitely has limits.
organized/disorganized: Disorganized as all hell. Has ADHD, which explains some of it.
close minded/open-minded: She leans toward closed-mindedness, in that kind of “college kid who thinks they have all the answers” way. This is in some ways an asset, because it leaves her profoundly unable to accept some of society’s novel injustices; but in other ways it can be a liability, as it can cause her to overlook some of the more accepted arrangements as problems.
calm/anxious: Completely anxious. It’s one of her most notable character traits. It’s rare that she’s not internally flipping out to some extent, though certain things (like her hobbies) can calm her down.
disagreeable/agreeable: Agreeable to anyone she doesn’t see primarily as an agent of The Man. Is more likely to try and drag others to her point of view than to agree with theirs, though.
cautious/reckless: Reckless in the short term, cautious in the long term. Thinks about things several steps down the road in a way that occasionally makes her misjudge the costs of immediate actions. Is all about the idea of the greater good.
patient/impatient: Impatient. If she sees something as an issue, she usually feels a need to be doing something about it.
outspoken/reserved: Outspoken. Brash about her opinions, and tends to hold very little back when it all comes onto the table.
leader/follower: Here she usually takes a third option, and would prefer to be a free agent whenever possible. Has a forceful personality. Can fall comfortably into either role if she must, though.
empathetic/unemphatic: Empathetic and compassionate - mostly because she makes the active, ongoing choice to be. Is completely capable of switching that off: woe betide those for whom she has decided she can spare no concern.
optimistic/pessimistic: Pessimistic, but tries to tamp down that tendency with outward celebration.
traditional/modern: Her overall attitude tends toward traditionalism, but in a way that appeals to what she thinks everyone’s lives should have become by now, rather than things actually having been better before.
hard-working/lazy: Lazy. She covers for having a severe anxiety disorder, ADHD, and executive dysfunction by keeping the list of her responsibilities really short. When something is sufficiently important, though, she nearly universally manages to do it.
R E L A T I O N S H I P S
otp: With Jenn, her girlfriend. Owes her a severe debt of gratitude because Jenn put her mind back together after Chelsea attempted to kill herself off. Wasn’t able to pursue a relationship with Jenn for years because everyone, including Jenn, thought she was dead.
ot3: Chelsea / Jenn / Taylor Grayson. Taylor is another async (psychic with the mind virus), and therefore understands and can relate to what’s going on in Chelsea’s head on that level much better than Jenn can.
brotp: With Commander Jenna Cole, a Morningstar Constellation military official who also works for Firewall.
notp: With Motya Petrov, Jenn’s team’s handler. Doesn’t hold a high opinion of Dr. Petrov because she sees their motives as politically destabilizing and dangerous.
