A highly remote cliff-side town, Rokke sits on what many believe to be the edge of the world. With crashing waves on one side and densely-forested hills on the other, it is incredibly well-protected. The town itself is built into the mountainside, protecting it from the ocean winds and creating, effectively, a fortress. It is something of a maze to navigate, with staircases interrupting each other and a million smaller pathways crisscrossing through the rock. Rumors of secret caverns and passageways from the ocean are probably true, given the lower neighborhood’s tendency to flood during storms or a spring tide.
Rokke exists on neutral land, but lays claim to the Dunelands. The country of Benets to the south has tried several times in the past to take Rokke, but the town has always survived the assaults, thanks in large part to their population of highly-skilled earth mages and an easily-defensible position. They are content in isolation, but welcome travelers with enthusiasm, especially for trade. Their farms and settlements in the plains north of the town are home to many flocks of sheep, and they also partake in fishing and boat-building. They are the only civilization so far to create ships that can weather the rough northern seas, but even then, not all of their expeditions have returned successfully.
