My latest Moon Girl fic is out, and it's a crossover with an underrated series I once wrote about back in 2022: Karma's World (which also focuses on a young Black girl). I wrote this for @flufftober. This fic fulfills the "Alt 19. First Dance" prompt.
Lunella doesn't know how everyone does it. Everything is too much. She has decided to not be Moon Girl again. All the death and suffering in the world is making her feel completely helpless. Her mom, despite not wanting her to be Moon Girl because she is worried about her safety, is concerned with how she is acting. One day, she pushes Lu to leave her room and the house entirely. When she arrives at the local grocery store, she talks to her good friend Casey, somewhat putting her at ease (but also not). Afterward, she has a surprise waiting her at home: a familiar 11-year-old girl who she once met in Hansberry Heights. This girl smashes apart Lu's self-imposed daze, as her deep-seated fears and insecurities are washed away, replaced by a new feeling…
This fic is a crossover which has a mother-daughter relationship, Black character(s), romance, hurt/comfort, female friendship (between Casey and Lunella), crushes, developing friendships, rollerblading/roller-skating/roller-dancing, references to Duke Ellington and Charlie Parker, jazz music, vinyl record, dinosaurs, blushing, coming out, jealousy, mental health issues, LGBTQ themes, fluff and angst, romantic fluff, depression, and so much more! There's also some slight political /social commentary (couldn't help myself).
Note, that this post overrides my previous pinned post.
