Far From Home Thoughts

I have seen the age thing about the actors on a couple of posts and i am just wondering why people have a issue with it here they are both in their 50s and i think she is older than him? I get it like when the actor is like 35 and the actress is 19. I’m not trying to be rude I’m just trying to understand because I am confused.

@rolodexthoughts Oh wow! I actually didn't realize their ages were that close! That is fully on me for not doing due diligence (I genuinely thought May's actress was far younger than that), and I thank you for letting me know!

Darcy/Clint trying to fix a car or truck while on the run.

“It’s the alternator, “ Darcy says, sitting with her feet out the passenger side window, the sun baking her calfs in a way that will probably suck later, but right now,  she does not car.

“Darce, the engine is smoking. It’s not the alternator.”

“Spark plugs.”

Clint looks at her with murder in his eyes. It’s a favorite of his looks, because the malice looks almost exactly like aroused and tempting. This is neither the time (3 in the afternoon) or the place (back country roads) or the circumstances (Hydra. Because fucking Nazi’s can’t leave themselves in the black pages of history where they belonged). But damn, it’s a good look.

“Perhaps a timing belt?”

“Are you just naming parts of a car now?” Clint says, wiping sweat from his brow. It falls onto the block and Clint looks down, “Fucking…” and makes a few adjustments.

In the distance, Darcy can hear an engine running higher, faster, harder.  Which happens to be the same way that her heart drops and she tenses.

“Try it now!” Clint yells, and Darcy does. The car roars to life, too loud but working, and it’s the best sound in the world, alongside the hood slamming down and Clint leaping into the driver’s seat.

They drive. Fast.

“So what was it?” Darcy asks, a little later, a little safer.

“Spark plugs.” Clint answers with shrug and that same murder-lover look.

I was tagged by Rolodexthoughts! Thanks for the tag, my dear! :) 1. If you could control one element what would it be? I think it would be water. I've always loved being on, in and around the water. While I can't explain why I'd like to control it, I do know I can blame Kaldur from Young Justice. He's such a badass. :)

2. What was your favorite toy from childhood? Definitely my Barbies. I spent hours at a time playing with those. Going on cruises, owning their own vet clinics, driving around in an amazing pink Corvette. *happy sigh* Those were the days!

3. Do you prefer digital pictures or prints? I take a ton of pictures, but I rarely print any. I much prefer prints over digital; I'd rather have something I can hang on my wall or frame instead of posting online. I've got a ton of photos from my trip to Ireland last summer than I have yet to do anything with. :/

4. Do you like to wear jewelry? I do! I've got a few pieces I'd love to wear every day, but I wear a dull work uniform and jewelry looks silly with it. That and I'm always washing my hands/using hand sanitizing foam (I work in a physical therapy clinic), so rings aren't a good idea, either.

5. What’s something that makes you irrationally angry? The chronic misuse of the world 'myself' and people who can't navigate roundabouts.

6. Would you rather go on a cruise, road trip, or train ride? I'm always up for a road trip. I've never gone on a cruise (save for a ferry ride once to Santorini), but I don't care to. Trains are awesome, but I love the flexibility of a road trip. Stopping at odd places like hole-in-the-wall diners, scenic overlooks and having fun in the car with friends all sound absolutely sublime.

7. If you can meet any person alive or dead who would you pick and why? This one was hard to answer, so I went with the two tied for first. I'd love to meet Kevin Conroy, the man who's lent his voice to Bruce Wayne and Batman for the last 25+ years. Whenever I read Batman stuff, his voice is in my head. He's done such an amazing job in the role and I would seriously freak out if I ever had the chance to meet him.

The other person would be an author by the name of Vince Flynn. He passed away a few years ago, but he's responsible for one of my favorite literary characters: Mitch Rapp. He was born, raised and went to college here in Minnesota and was quite a prolific writer. There are a few references to Minnesota scattered across his novels and it's always fun to find those. I was so happy one of his novels was optioned for a movie (American Assassin, came out last fall) and despite being nervous about it at first, the movie turned out great! I hope they're able to continue making them. They've got a lot of material to use.

8. What is your favorite comfort food? Probably mashed potatoes and gravy. They always remind me of family meals from when I was a kid.

9. Do you believe in aliens? If I learned anything from being a fan of The X-Files for 25 years now, it would be that they're out there somewhere. :)

10. Favorite smell? The first thunderstorms in the spring. The smell of freshly-thawed earth, new plant life and rain is heavenly. 

That or a library that has really old books!

In the past I’ve been so bad about doing these but I’m not solely on mobile tumblr anymore so it’s way easier. Yay!

1. If you could control one element what would it be?

Fire. I’ve always had a thing for fire which has not always been a good thing.

2. What was your favorite toy from childhood?

I honestly don’t know. I went through a lot of fads. I really like Poly Pockets.

3. Do you prefer digital pictures or prints?

Physical. I tend to prefer physical over digital in most things. Mostly I love being able to have them all over the place so I can just look up, see them, and smile. 

4. Do you like to wear jewelry?

I do but I’m really bad at it. The only thing I ever wear consistently is my class ring which 8 years on might seem like a bit much but I was in the third generation of my family to go to my high school so it makes me think of my family and feel connected to them.

5. What’s something that makes you irrationally angry?

When my phone goes from vertical to horizontal or vice versa when I don’t want it to. This is mainly when I’m laying in bed and trying to watch or read something on it.

6. Would you rather go on a cruise road trip or train ride?

Road trip. I’ve been on all three and road trip is definitely the way to go. You have way more time at each destination. On the other two you spend most of your time very contained. I feel like you get to do more and see more on road trips. Plus you can change up your road trip on the way if you want to. Like you see a really cool road side destination or something you can reallocate your time and go to that thing.  

7. If you can meet any person alive or dead who would you pick and why?

So I’ve learned through experience with myself never to meet your heroes. At least for me I always make a complete fool out of myself and ramble like a crazy person no matter how much I plan. For that reason I would want to meet a family member. It would probably be my mom’s Aunt Lucile. She was my mom’s favorite aunt and she died before I was born. I know she was really cool and traveled a lot.

8. What is your favorite comfort food?

Probably a pizza from my favorite local pizza place. Unfortunately it is now 30 minutes away.

9. Do you believe in aliens?

Yes. Sometimes I think it’s probably just wishful thinking but then I think about how amazingly big space is and I’m like how can there not be.

10. Favorite smell?

Honey. I love honey for so many reasons and wish my whole life could smell like it.

11. There wasn’t an 11th question so I’ll answer one of my own. Desert or ocean?

I don’t know why but I really like the desert. I think it’s beautiful and wish I could go there more often.
