It’s been almost a year since I’ve posted here, a year and nine months since I posted any fic, and way too long since I’ve interacted with any and all of you, and I hate that.

But guess who has a nursing degree now?

I finished my Associates degree on Wednesday and I don’t start my BSN (bachelors in nursing) until mid-March, so between studying for my license exam to actually be a nurse and applying for jobs, I finally have time to be around more and do some writing. :)

I don't know if this is meaningful or stress-relieving for anyone, but it feels like the kind of thing that fandom writing communities don't talk about much. And I just want to put it out there:

It's okay if I love your writing and you don't love mine.

We all have different tastes and different writing styles. Mine might not work for you. That doesn't mean my writing is bad or your taste is suspect. It means we're different people with our own preferences and boundaries. You can be welcome here, regardless of how you feel about what I write. And if I gush about your writing, it's because I want to. Don't feel awkward about not returning the sentiment. I don't take that personally. And I never will.

Somewhat related. A new thought I'm working on making space for in my heart:

It's okay if you are a loyal reader of my fic in progress, and then you drift away.

The fact that you left doesn't mean my work got worse or I did something "wrong" to lose you. It just means your priorities have changed. There are so many reasons why that may have happened. If I start imagining only the negative ones that relate to the quality of my writing, then I'm doing myself harm that I don't deserve.

I can be sad you've left, but also glad my fic was just what you needed for a while. And I don't have to blame either one of us for being bad or doing something wrong. We are not and we haven't. We all have busy, challenging lives right now. And the things we have time and energy for often change.

(Honestly these are just my fanfic writer thoughts on the topic of working to be good to myself and good to other people.)

This is a version of Damian I’ve longed for.

batfam headcanons except they make my heart hurt and yall have to suffer too:

barb, steph and jason all frequently wake up screaming/shouting/etc. listening to their fear sends cass into uncontrollable panic attacks. bruce blames himself for all of this, and has started slipping medication that induces dreamless sleep into all of his children’s drinks past 8PM.

when jason first comes back, tim is the first to notice how deep jason’s self-loathing runs. tim routinely removes and hides all the bullets from jason’s guns.

damian cries for the first time in his life when steph and duke argue with bruce over sending another child to fight crime. he tells himself it’s because he’s angry, but this is the first time anyone has ever fought for the chance for him to have a childhood.

dick goes days at a time without eating. he hardly has the time between protecting two cities, and an entire family who need him. cass breaks into his apartment once a week to leave a stash of ready meals. dick still doesn’t eat.

duke never quite feels worthy of being part of the family. he loves them, but he always feels like an outsider pushed into a world he doesn’t understand. he takes 5 bullets in his first year in attempts to sacrifice himself for them.

tim secretly hates fighting alongside his brothers. each one of them remind him of the robins he was never able to live up to.

bruce can feel his body starting to give out as he grows older, but he refuses to let his children see. alfred quietly treats him for a minor heart attack, after bruce pushes himself too hard so damian doesn’t have to get involved.

jason has panic attacks whenever any of the girls bring home a new man. he knows they’re strong, but he remembers how his father beat and abused his adoptive mother. he stashes a loaded gun in each of the girls’ apartments.
