💓 BEATING HEART - what gets their heart racing?

Rom doesn't show it, but frankly, he's a simple man in this regard. Something as small as watching Oswald straighten his tux and put his top hat on all proud in the morning hits Rom right in the heartstrings.

🦷 TOOTH - do they have straight or crooked teeth? do they like to keep them well-maintained?

For an older ghoul, Rom's chompers aren't terrible... but, they aren't great, either. Not straight, but not super crooked. After all, he'd gotten into many fist-fights while in with the Operators--one of which left him needing the gold fang he has now. He does consistently maintain oral hygiene, which he calls "one of those pre-War things that won't go away."

🩹 BANDAID - do they have any prominent scars? (if so) how did they get them? do they try to keep them covered?

Well, uh... stares at Rom's entire right side. They're a result of a near-fatal Gatorclaw attack; Oswald thought Rom was lost. Rom has given up on trying to cover them; after all, they're pretty glaring, especially on his face.

🏝 ISLAND - if they could go anywhere, where would they go and why?

Rom would love to take Oswald on a vacation, namely to New Vegas--or what they remember as Las Vegas. Not for the partying or the gambling. No, Rom wants Oswald to experience the home of some of the most influential magicians in history.

🪓 AXE - what is their go-to weapon?

Grenades are Rom's go-to, but he'll wield a 10mm pistol if the situation requires it.

You know who I haven't rattled on about near enough? Rom. So, let's fix that.

8. Do complex puzzles intrigue or frustrate them?

Rom loves puzzles--a trait which definitely made him stand out during his time as a raider. He was nicknamed 'Smartypants' (usually derogatory) for a reason. If one isn't present, Rom will create a puzzle to solve.

13. Name one thing their parents taught them.

Diligence. Very much that mindset of "if you are going to get anywhere in life, you have to work for it." Never settle for anything; always continue working up and up.

29. What recurring dreams do they have?

Rom consistently has nightmares, when he isn't under the influence of Med-X, and the one that often strikes is the vivid image of Oswald succumbing to the Affliction. Typically, he's crying--mourning Rachel and their friends all over--and apologizing repeatedly.

Gailiana Gail Parsons

Gailiana -- Italian origin, based on 'Giuliana', meaning youthful.

Gail -- Has a few origins, namely: Hebrew origin, diminutive of 'Avigayil' (Biblical, King David's third wife), meaning father's joy; and Old French origin, meaning cheerful.

Parsons -- English origin, occupational name for the servant of a parish priest or parson.

When naming Gail, I knew I wanted something that could both function as an easy transition when they express more nonbinary and also play into the religious upbringing that's alluded to. I imagine Catherine was the more devout of the two--James was to a lesser degree--so a name with Biblical background just made sense to me.

Esper Burke

Esper -- German origin, meaning magical/mythical or a person with paranormal ability.

Burke -- Irish origin, meaning fortified hill.

With Esper, I wanted to play a bit into how the Sole Survivor kind of exudes a sort of "otherworldly" vibe, what with the whole "I'm from BEFORE the war" and "I survived being on ice for hundreds of years." Burke was a choice that is a testament to her overcoming countless struggles, both before and after the war.

Dominic "Rom" Jones

Dominic -- Latin origin, meaning of the Lord.

Rom -- Hebrew origin, meaning height.

Jones -- Welsh origin, meaning son of John.

I wasn't particularly stingy about the meanings behind Rom's name, honestly. Ultimately, I was going for something more mundane and inconspicuous. 'Rom' was entirely a play on his computer whiz nature (i.e. a CD-ROM).

Charon Molakis

Charon -- Greek origin, meaning either of keen gaze or fierce brightness, depending on the source.

Molakis -- Greek origin, a derivative of the word 'malakós', meaning soft or gentle.

Considering the AU boys already had their first names situated, those were a given. The challenge was coming up with surnames that fit. Charon's might seem... in left field, but truth be told, I wanted to showcase how he's really just a Big Teddy Bear, despite trying to exude anything but that.

Gob Verne

Gob -- Hebrew origin, meaning pit or trench.

Verne -- Latin origin, meaning spring green.

When picking Gob's last name, I wanted to showcase his character growth in a way--going from feeling deep in a hole to in a bountiful greenery. When he and Charon eventually marry and share their surnames, it also works for Charon as a character.

The random number generator selected good ol' Rom.

Rom is not typically one for prized possessions; he never really has been, and his time as a raider only solidified it.

Now, though, that's changed. He can say he has one (1), and that is the faded blue Nuka-World ticket Rom always carries with him. Inconspicuous, perhaps absurd to most. Though on its back is written--in an artistic, yet somewhat scattered penmanship--one word: Abracadabra.
