Death came to visit Harry only once in a dream. A discussion was had, and an agreement was made. Harry would retain the Deathly Hallows and their powers to ease those who asked into the next world without Death's interference. Death would only come when invited. He learned that Death wasn't cruel or proud, just efficient. Death told Harry that what Harry was doing made its job easier, and those it claimed were at peace with what was ahead. The only dreams now were pertaining to those he loved, giving him notice that their time was ahead. He could only hope that Draco and their children never appeared.

This fic spoke to me on a very personal level, with a writing that wraps you like a warm blanket. I so love this Harry as the Master of Death. How comforting it would be to experience dying this gracefully, and welcome Death gently.

Thanks for the tag, @the-starryknight! 💜 I was delighted yesterday to learn that @romaine2424 is on Tumblr, so I definitely have a fic to talk about today. It’s one of the heavy hitters that shaped me deeply during my very earliest months discovering Drarry: Double Edged Sword (E, 555K) The folks who’ve been on Tumblr with me for a few years know I blundered alone into Drarry in summer 2016, 43 years old and knowing nothing about fandom. Armed only with the search term “Drarry,” I flailed around the internet without guidance, reading everything I could find. I first stumbled into The Hex Files, where I found two of the most intense and formative works of fiction I’ve ever read in my life: TURN and Double Edged Sword. I didn’t know how to gauge fic length by word count. I didn’t know how to read tags to find out what kind of story I was in for. I leapt into this 101-chapter epic bond!fic with no idea what to expect except that it was another story about the pairing that had become my new obsession. This fic seized me by the collar and pulled me in, hard. I did nothing for a solid week but read all day long. I was dazzled, drunk on this story. At night I dreamed about its settings. Turns of phrase echoed in my head when I was obliged to stand up and pull myself away from the computer. 70 chapters in, when the story SHATTERED me with tragedy, I was too invested to stop. It broke my heart like few works of fiction ever have. I read whole chapters through tears. Later chapters invited me to reconsider canon with new perspective. By the time I read the very last words I was a different person than I was when I began. The stories I found that summer were the seeds of a new life for me. By the end of 2016 I sought lifesaving surgery and made a plan to extract myself from an abusive relationship. Five years later, I’m a creator in Drarry fandom myself, and friends with some of the most brilliant and loving people I’ve ever known. The path that led me here began with this towering story, a vision of Harry and Draco beyond anything I had imagined, which inspired me to imagine different possibilities for my own life. Thank you, Romaine. This story was such a gift to me in a very dark time. More than I have words to say, thank you so much for writing it. ❤️🌹❤️

Ah yes the infamous URL question 😂 to be honest I wasn’t thinking at all when I came up with it! This blog was created as a quarantine project and I didn’t have long-term plans for it, wasn’t even expecting to reach 50 followers so I just… used the URL from my MCU side blog. It’s dedicated to Starker (the ship) and I thought “starkerintheparker” would be a cute pun, so this recs blog got the shorter version Sitp. Very basic and anti-climatic (also stupid because it exposes my problematic interests to mean antis!!!) but oh well here we are. I’ve thought of changing it MULTIPLE times since day one, but the idea of fixing broken links make me give up pretty quickly…

aloe vera ⇢ what’s something (mundane) you really want to experience in life?

Hmm maybe “take the unknown road”? In the sense of turning left when you know you’re supposed to turn right, and see where that takes you (I love the inherent reference to Turn in this!). I can’t think of anything better right now because the mundane experience I wanted to live the most was doing traditional North American Christmas activities with my sister, and we got to experience it when she visited me 3 years ago and we spent the holidays in the US. It was magical! We finally had the chance to share moments like build a snowman, bake weirdly shaped cookies, chop up a Christmas tree, sing the carols, drink eggnog etc etc. It was very special and I hope we get to do it again!

Eight Days A Week (ao3) - Romaine Draco/Harry E, 121k

Summary: This is foremost a love story and second it's about those growing up years. Becoming adults with adult lives and adult decisions.

Yes, Harry's a Trainee-Auror and Draco's a Healer-in-Training after the war. Yes, Harry eventually moves into 12 Grimmauld Place. And, yes, attraction happens between Harry and Draco and they fall in love, but then there's more. Draco is now free from Voldemort, free from fear of going to Azkaban, free from his Father's beliefs, and free to be the person, the witch, the woman she always felt she should be. And for Harry, it’s time to lose the shackles of his childhood and discover who he really is and what’s truly important in life. This story begins one year or so after the Battle at Hogwarts and follows their relationship faithfully for two years. The final chapter will take place later in their lives.

This is a positive transition story without body dysphoria, but will contain moments where prejudice and slights arise. This story is categorized as M/F.
