Okay, I'm just gonna go ahead. Olivia and Diana. There are just so many possibilities? Like, not just their looks, but is olivia written by olivia and about Diana? Or the other way around? Who's carefree, who "created the summertime etc?" Is it (1)

(2) a happy love story? Is it angsty? Maybe they're just friends? Are they pretentious? What books do they read? Who is the big spoon? Oh goodness.

look the world needs more f/f romance so i’m definitely going with lovers for them. aaaand i feel like diana (the song) represents an angsty time in their relationship, whereas olivia (the song) is when it’s all worked out? like perhaps there was a language barrier, and they were long distance girlfriends and it was difficult, but through time and dedication they worked through that and the summertime and butterflies was created. (in my mind it’s more of a joint creation, even though it’s portrayed as a solitary action in the song. just roll with me here.)

spontaneous thoughts on the books they read: sarah waters (olivia’s fave), jeanette winterson, virginia woolf, dorothy parker (diana especially enjoys her dark humour). maybe diana reads more than olivia, who is more generally inclined to entertainment in all its mediums, although that includes books. maybe olivia reads comic books and diana teases her for being a nerd, to which olivia retorts “you literally put a picture of viriginia woolf on the fridge with glittery heart stickers on it, you sure you’re one to talk?” and then they laugh and kiss.

i feel diana as the little spoon tbh. in my mind she was the one to learn a language for olivia, which is a huge commitment and sometimes makes her feel super vulnerable, so it’s really important for her to feel like olivia loves her as much. which she does, of course, and being the little spoon is one of the things that makes diana feel safe and comfortable in that fact.

but the possibilities are endless and your thoughts are as good as mine. beautiful. :’)
