River’s accent is thicker than normal when he’s been woken up, especially from particularly deep slumber. It’s a second or two before Apollo’s equally groggy brain catches up and makes sense of what the other’s asked, and another five second before he can even muster the energy to open his eyes and check the bedside clock. The red digital readout says it’s 7:47 AM. Apollo’s internal clock says…
“It’s too early for this kind of shit.”
There’s a soft snort, and the bed shifts and the blankets shuffle while River adjusts his position in the bed, curling closer against Apollo’s back. Apollo smiles, and, for a minute, feels like he could go back to sleep. It wouldn’t take much. Their bed is warm, and comfortable, and River’s right there, cuddled close, but not so close that neither of them can be truly comfortable, and both of them can breathe. His eyes are heavy and his brain is begging him. Just another hour. Maybe two. He’ll be good to wake up, then. He’s technically an adult now, and the whole ‘getting up at the crack of dawn’ thing lost its appeal long ago.
He’s almost asleep when it starts again, and River jerks against his back, clearly just about back to sleep himself.
“DECK THE HALLS WITH BALLS OF HOLLY, FA-LA-LA-LA-LAAAAA–”
“He knows it’s 'boughs’, right?” River mutters, rolling onto his back. Apollo does the same, looking over at his husband before looking at the ceiling.
“You should know by now that if my dad can substitute 'balls’ for any word, he will.”
River laughs, softly, and it’s a beautiful sound on a morning with less than beautiful singing. “All right. True. You think he’s trying to get us up and out of bed?”
“Either that or he’s trying to get mom to kill him.” Apollo answers. Then he rolls over, throwing an arm and leg over River and snuggling into his side. “Let’s just ignore him, and–”
“–These carols sure do say a lot about gays!”
“I swear, I might kill him one of these days.”
“Your mother gets first shot.”
“And I think Ayden is next in line behind her.”
“You’re going to be waiting a while, I think.”
“Probably.”
River laughs again, and shifts in the bed, turning to plant a kiss on Apollo’s nose. “I don’t think we’re going to be getting any more sleep this morning.”
“Not with the jolly caroler out there, we’re not.” Apollo agrees. It sounds like Ashcroft is getting closer with every line of Silent Night he hollers. Soon he’s going to be at their door, and there will be no more ignoring him. “So. Merry Christmas, River.”
Okay but. 'Come over here and make me' with Ashcroft and Ayden. :D

He's crude, but he's always been crude. Ayden knows that, so it shouldn't surprise him that Ashcroft is standing in the doorway, going on and on forever about something or another regarding his junk.
Par for the course, as it were.
"Ashcroft." He finally interrupted, pushing back his hair and setting down the equipment he was working with. "What I'm doing, here, and now, is very delicate. Do you mind, for once, shutting up?"
Ashcroft smirked, through and through the demon he'd always been. "Come over here and make me."
Ayden smiled, and reached for his cell phone. "No thanks. Why don't I call your wife, though, and get this handled?"
ALSO ALSO. 10; “Teach me how to play?” for Gasparrrrr~d and Klein?

The apartment is full of the sound of music, and that isn't uncommon. Klein isn't the type to let it be quiet, and he never has been. There's always something, music playing from computers, or the stereo, or even Klein's record player. Commonly, like right now, it was Klein's guitar.
Junx woke up to the sound of it, knowing the two of them were the only ones left in the apartment. Normally, he'd stay in his room. Hole up and go back to sleep. It wasn't like he had anything to do, today.
Instead, he dragged his ass out of bed and padded out to the living room, situating himself at the other end of the couch from Klein, listening to him play for a while, watching his fingers move, before he interrupted.
"Can you teach me how to play?"
Klein stopped, and looked up. A small smile played around the corners of his mouth, and without a word, he lifted the guitar from his lap, and held it out to Junx.
Would you rather be part of the Slug Club and sit in on one of those parties, or go to a Deathday party? :D
Oh my god, definitely a Deathday party, only because of the high chance of maybe possibly seeing a famous historical figure AND/OR learning more about history from the periods of life of those present :D
I wasn't gonna do it, but then I saw one. Inappropriately timed confession, for Thorn and Shun. ( I don't know if there was ever a real... true confession there? They're not totally the type for it? BUT IF THERE WAS. I could also just be forgetting it because it was forever ago andifsoIapologize. )
“You were late. Again. You're alwayslate.”
Thorn didn't seem like he was reallylistening to anything that Shun said. It wouldn't be that much of asurprise, if it turned out to be true. The fact of the matter wasthat he didn't listen a lot of the time – or, more pointedly, ifdidn't seem like he did. Occasionally he would surprise Shun bybringing up a conversation that he'd been sure Thorn hadn't beenpaying attention to. Maybe, he hoped, this was one of those times.
“You're not even listening,” hesaid. It was the oldest trick in the book, but it got an immediatereaction. Thorn lifted his head from his phone, turning to face Shunand opening his mouth to argue; Shun didn't let him get that far.
“If you are listening to me, answerme when I say something!” he said, venom in his tones. “Don'tjust let me berate you! You could try saying something once in awhile!”
Thorn nodded, very clearly attentive, now. It was almost more infuriating that he was.
Maybe Shun was just looking for afight.
“What are we, even?” he asked, hisvoice lower, but his tone just as venomous. “Because I'm not sure. Are we just the Guy Who Makes Plans He's Always Late For and the GuyWho's Always Left Waiting?” Shun spread his hands at his sides, staring down at Thorn, seated on the arm of the couch, in his dressshirt and pants. “Because, I'm telling you, Thorn Windemere, it'sgetting really old, really fast.”
“I get that.” Thorn said. Shunwaited a beat for him to continue. When he didn't, the kitsune blewout an agitated breath, putting a hand over his face and turningaway.
“You get that.” He repeated. “Youget that, and yet, still – you were late tonight, but I was the onewho had to put on the happy face, and pretend like I wasn't annoyedwith you, and like this doesn't always happen, and like I didn't haveto make excuses for you for forty five minutes– which is a record, by the way – just for you to waltz in likeyou hadn't inconvenienced anyone.” Shun pressed his palm to his ownchest. “Like you hadn't supremely inconvenienced me.”
Thornstill sat there, unmoving, unspeaking.
It wasso infuriating, Shun considered ransacking Lorelai's room. Sheprobably had a taser in there, somewhere. It might wake the jumperup. Remind him that staring was not a polite answer, and maybe heshould consider--
“I'msorry. I'm an inconsiderate asshole.”
Shun'strain of thought ground to a halt, and he turned back to his...boyfriend, if that's what they were, still seated on the arm of thecouch.
“Iknow that about myself, trust me. Tonight, actually, was supposed tobe the night I started getting better at it.” The night of theirfirst social outing in Winchester. “But, I sort of freaked myselfout. I know it isn't an excuse, and I should have been here on timeto go there with you, and I'm sorry I wasn't.” Thorn took a breath, standing up to his full height. It was weird to see him clearlyconsidering his words. It wasn't something he tended to do all thatoften. Especially not when they were fighting. “Fact of the matteris... I mean, I know this isn't exactly the best timeto say this, but... I love you.”
“Excuseme?”
Thornlooked unsurprised by how quickly and bluntly those two wordspresented themselves as Shun's answer. “I love you.” He repeated.“And all the connotations that means. And please don't let me sayit again. Or, I mean, I could, if that'd be the way to make my latestfuck-up up to you...”
Shunshook his head, unable to keep down a small smile.
“I'mstill really angrywith you,” he started. “And you have a lot of making up to do,that includes actually starting to show up to things on time. I'm notgoing to let you off the hook that easy, so don't even think that'show this is going to be.

Grant paced the Arrivals area of Logan International Airport, trying not to look as nervous as he felt. The clock on his phone read 18:30. Fifteen minutes before Leo's plane was supposed to have arrived, except, it had been early. The plane had landed safely on the tarmac ten minutes before, and was disembarking now. At least, that was what he imagined. He'd parked his car in the parking garage at 5:30, telling himself he was just being careful, in case the plane was early, and this was just what he had done that for.
Quietly, though, he was a bit bitter he didn't have another fifteen minutes to quietly panic about all this.
Two years ago, for one of his International Relations classes, they had been required to network with students in likewise courses in other countries. His university had collaborated with schools all over the world, and the student that Grant had begun talking with was Leo Fitz. Scottish, just a couple years younger than him, but a damn prodigy.
Except, when the course had ended, they hadn't stopped talking, using Skype, and international message apps. They had continued on, until, one night, Leo straight up asked him 'Are we flirting?'
Another week of awkward fumbling, and they'd confronted the issue head on, deciding, despite their distance, well, maybe they could call this a relationship. Call it a relationship, and, eventually, meet. See where things went, over the course of time.
That was a year ago, now.
Now, Grant was standing in the airport, staring at the people as they got out of customs, and came out to meet their friends and loved ones, and waiting for his friend... slash loved one.
Yes, they'd spent the better part of the year talking regularly day in and day out. They'd had Skype calls, both voice and video. Grant felt like he knew the man who was coming to see him, and like Leo knew him better than anyone else ever had.
But, Christ, he was still so nervous.
Because, what if he didn't measure up to what Leo thought he'd be in person? What if he was too tall, or what if he smelled weird to the other?
“Knock it off,” Grant growled to himself as the Arrivals door opened again. An older couple came through the doors, and then, behind them...
He was taller than Grant had imagined, which, really, was a good thing. Sandy-blonde, curly hair, and bright blue eyes. A hesitant smile as he scanned the crowd of waiting people, tugging his bag behind him.
“Leo.”
Grant didn't know what had possessed him to speak, but he was glad he did, because it seemed to be the clue Leo needed to look his way. Then his face broke into a bright, happy smile, and Grant's heart skipped a beat.
“Grant.”
He dragged his suitcase over, reaching out with his free arm. Grant didn't hesitate a second to tuck him in close in a tight hug. He was warm, like he'd just woken up from sleeping, and he smelled like vanilla.
He was perfect.
They didn't break apart for a long, long minute. When they did, Leo's hand drifted down his arm, squeezing his hand briefly before letting go completely.
“Hi.”
“Hey.” Grant grinned, looking over his face, taking in his clothes, his nervous little smile... “How was your flight.”
“Too bloody long,” Fitz breathed, his smile just on the edge of dreamy. “Can we get something to eat?”
“Oh!” Grant squeezed his eyes shut for a second, shaking his head. “Yeah. Yeah, of course we can. I can't believe I forgot.... Well,” he looked Leo in the eye again. “No, I can believe I forgot.”
The blush that rose on Leo's cheeks was worth the momentary lapse in memory.
“Come on,” Grant laughed. “Give me that. We can go out to my car and then pick a place, okay?”
“Right. Brilliant,” Leo handed over the handle to his bag, letting Grant pull it along as they walked. “I'm excited.”
The walked in comfortable silence, traveling the hallways of the airport, riding the elevator up to his floor of the parking garage and sneaking glances at each other. By the time they made it to the level Grant's car was parking on, his chest felt tight with happiness. He led the way to his car, popping the trunk and lifting Leo's bag into it.
“Feels a little light for a month long visit,” he commented, shutting the trunk and turning back around. “Glad you listened to me.” They'd had a few discussions about how it would be fine for Leo to use his laundry card while he visited. There was no need to pack over much. “Let's get you some food...”
When he'd turned, Leo's hands had found the sides of the button up shirt he'd tugged on over his henley, He worked the material between his fingers, looking up into Grant's face. The look on his made the taller man pause, searching his eyes the same as his own were being searched. Looking for...
Leo nodded, tiny, barely noticeable, and leaned up on his toes in the same instant that Grant leaned down.
People go on and on about sparks, fireworks and explosions behind your eyes, when someone kisses the person they love for the first time. Grant had always thought they were exaggerations, but, standing in that parking garage, cupping Leo's face in one hand, and kissing him slow, he found, well, the sparks were happening.
The sparks, and warmth, and the loosening of the tight feeling in his chest. It all felt so good, and when they pulled away from each other, he couldn't help but lean back in for one more peck.
Leo laughed, soft, smoothing his hands down Grant's chest. “That was... really nice.”
Grant nodded. “Yeah... Can we... again, later?”
“Lots,” Leo agreed, firmly. “But now...?”
“Food.” Grant said, with a grin. He leaned down and stole one more quick kiss, before hitting the unlock button on his key fob, grinning, and heading for the driver's side.
