Another author rants because the situation has escalated; please just ignore me.
Aroace people exist, get over it.
Fan talking about an asexual character:
"But it's not canon that they're sex-repulsed!"
The same asexual character in a canon conversation about sex:
"I never think about that! The single idea of picturing me in this circumstance is...Well, gross."
As an author of a character who is currently facing this increasing practice, I find it extremely frustrating, especially when people are trying to use the fact that asexuals can have sex and aromatics can date against characters that I made clear have no desire or interest in having such relationships.
I'm exhausted from being surrounded (in my anonymity because of my contract) by fans thirsty for respect for the author's work, only to fulfil their desires for unreal characters.
My colleagues are very understanding and kind, but the only one who can communicate directly with the fans refuses to do so about this subject because she doesn't want to, and I'll quote, "spoil the fun."
Well, I don't give a dam about what this bunch of immature and disrespectful people find funny; I don't want the only asexual and aromantic representation that I was able to insert in my work to disappear just because the mass of sheep wants to sexualise everything that moves.
Asexual people who are sex-repulsed exist, aromantic people who are date-repulsed exist.
