Imagine Ron Weasley being impressed by you standing up to Snape.

You were normally quiet in class, not really bringing attention to yourself, getting good enough grades that sometimes the head of your house would smile upon you but not enough to get awards. A wallflower, that’s what your parents called you sometimes, trying to get you to come out of your shell. But you were happy the way that you were. With all that was going on in the wizarding world, being noticed didn’t seem like a good thing.

But Severus Snape had just pushed your buttons to the point where you were really about to get attention.

He had been picking on poor Neville Longbottom, your rather unfortunate Potions partner, for far too long.

You got to your feet, your fingernails digging into the flesh palm of your hand after Snape had just reemed Neville for a mistake that he had seen YOU make, but no, he was taking it out on the poor boy instead, frightening him out of his wits. And poor Neville, he was never going to stand up for himself. Or sell you out.

“You’re rude, and you’re mean, and you’re sloppy, and greasy - and no one here likes you at all, Professor Snape,” You said, causing people to stare at your outburst. There was a moment of stunned silence. Snape narrowed his eyes at you. He was opening his mouth, probably to send you to detention when a clap started up beside you.

Well, that was one way to catch your crush’s eye, even if it was entirely unintentional.
