I'm not a fan of Hugh Hewitt, Salem, or evangelical conservatives.

Hewitt, however, regularly invites Haviv Rettig Gur on to talk about Israeli politics for a US audience, and Haviv is always worth listening to.

Hewitt seems to be fishing for support of Netanyahu, but Haviv doesn't give it to him, insisting that the situation is complex and requires a more nuanced understanding...which he gamely attempts to impart in 20 minutes.

Israelis, I'd be interested in hearing your take on Haviv's framing.

Following English-language Israeli news hasn't helped me understand the Ronen Bar matter at all, but Haviv's explanation makes sense to me.

Interesting information on the structural challenges of Israel's democracy, too.
