Well, I’m a bit late, aren’t I? At least I have it up this week, right?
This Wednesday was my 8th wedding anniversary, so I was a touch distracted this week with regards to my writing blog. Whoops.
However, I still had a bit to talk about this week. Mostly about stories I’m taking in so I can be inspired for my own writing.
This week’s talking points included:
Celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness month and a mini-talk about how everyone should use this month to remember to get checked.
Me and Hubby celebrating our anniversary by staying home and binge-watching shows.
Yes, we did cave and get the trial of Amazon Prime, so we’ve finally watched The Boys and Good Omens
Hubby and I watching Oxventure by OutsideXbox and Outside Xtra, and how it’s the better fit for us than the far more popular Critical Role.
I compare the Oxventure Guild shenanigans to those of my own play group.
I actually go on about Oxventure for a little bit...
My struggles with coming up with a story for my friend Ronoxym inadvertently helping inspire @chibisunnie for her next picture book.
Researching Ronoxym’s favorite - or one of - book series The Dresden Files helping me finally narrow down what kind of genre stories he enjoys.
Hint: it’s modern urban fantasy with a darker/grittier but still humorous take.
The revelation of what kind of stories Ron really gravitates towards FINALLY inspiring me for a story!
A listing of writing prompts I enjoyed, even though they don’t fit the genre I was aiming for
A few prompts that reminded me of demon-centric works I’ve read
Specifically, the Lycopolis series by Ali Luke, and Immortal Bond by @thetauruspixie
The supernatural prompt that truly jumpstarted my current writing project
And how Hubby’s doctoring of it helped me FINALLY come up with a concept! YAY, Hubby! <3
Quick promo for the #KyoruWeek fan-event run by @kyoruweek19
I finish by showing off my new netbook (a baby laptop, basically)

The Rogue’s Scribe: Welcome to October
So it’s time to start a new habit for the year, and boy did I pick a good time of the year to start this off. See, for a long time I have been telling myself that I need to sit down and work in writing but I never really set aside any time for it. But no longer! Like one of my friends I am going to try and write out a blog style post at least once a week, now I am not sure how long any of those post are going to be or even what will be in them. But I think it would be good practice for my spelling, grammar and editing skills. Plus it’s always good to have a place where I can rant about every and anything that is upsetting me that isn’t my main tumblr, as some of my friends do follow it and may see things I really don’t want them to see.
So I may as well start off with a bit of an intro for the hell of it. My name, well my handle in the internet is Nova Night. Yes, I know it’s a silly name but its mine and it isn’t one of the worst ones I could have had, you don’t want to know what some of the more weeabo names I have come up with over the years… oh the names that where made when I was young and stupid and didn’t know it was a bad idea to just slap Japanese words together to try and get a name.
Anyway, I am Nova Night. A twenty to thirty year old women that is living at home with her parents because college loans are the worst of the evil blood sucking vampires that like attacking my wallet. I am also in a shit ton of fandoms. And yes a metic shit ton, like I will not try and list them all off because that would be nuts, anyway I am in many fandoms for a lot of things like books, anime, TV shows, games, music and other odd things I find in the internet. I work at a boring but busy job as a waitress but I am hoping to be hired at a craft store where I can use my degree in Art for at least something.
In top of work and my Fandom life I also help some friends run a local Vampire the Masquerade LARP that tries to meet bi weekly, weather permitting. Where we dream up crazy plots and even crazier characters and have a good time.
Now way did I mention the LARP? Well that is where I am going to start with the weekly update! So you can kind of see what has been going in with my life, thought it’s not a normal one due to all the holidays. So I guess I will be starting the weekend of the 13th when we have game, now I will admit the game this weekend had been a bit slow. The Head Storyteller (The Bard) had given one of the other storytellers (Ronoxym), a part of the plot he wasn’t quite ready for. So a lot of the game for our little part of the troop was waiting while he checked over the rules and powers of the character he had to run.
Still it was a fun time as I got to hang out with friends while we all tried to figure it out and remove some problem characters from the game.
After that I spend the next few days just going to work and then being sucked into Archeage, an open world sandbox MMO that some of my friends for the larp got me into. A lot of what I was doing was grinding out gold and mats for the group but still, it was something to do when I don’t really feel like going out and doing real things.
Really the only thing that of note that happened that week was that my car wouldn’t start in the nineteenth so I called out of work even thought we have the car up and running midway thought the day because I needed the brake that day.
So that I way I say it was Karma that bit me in the 20th when I got called to see if I could cover for someone and yes I did go in to help out, figured that I should have taking the day off before when It wasn’t planned. So I spend most of the late morning to early afternoon at work before leaving to go a Yule party at Mouse’s. There we meet up with Mouse, her fiance, The Bard, Ronoxym and his fiancee.
(I am not sure if any of them have internet names that they would like at this time and I can’t really thing of any goods ones right now…)
And well, in general there was a bit of drinking, some nerf gun battles, watching TV and talking about games most of the night before I had to leave because of work in the morning.
The 21th was also a normal day, thankfully because I made sure I wouldn’t be hang over for work the night before. So I pretty much event to work, came home and even to sleep for the night because the 20th had been a long day and I had only gotten a little bit of rest.
But the 22th also throw more wild a crazy things after work, see the family was all suppose to get together for Christmas dinner that night but my brothers car broke down in the way over to the house. Thankfully he was able to text me and I and his fiancée father where able to get to them and help them out. From what little I know of cars, and it is very little, something happened to the antifreeze/cooling part of the car. We were able to slowly move the car down the road to a clear spot but then we had to wait about an hour to get the car towed back to town. Personally I am just happy that I was able to be there as while it’s not freezing, the temperatures are getting low at this time of the year here and I would have hated for them to wait out in the cold because their car wouldn’t start.
So after the adventures with the car we were able to get them over to our house and we had a very nice meal and opened up presents from each other. I got a nice s’more set and more candy! And then my mother was nice enough to drive them home as I was tried out from all of our adventures.
The following day after work I even to see the finial movie of the Hobbit trilogy at the mall, and yes I know going to the mall the week of Christmas is a bit crazy but really it was the only time within the next week that I was going to have time to do so, as there was no way in gods green earth I was going to go Christmas Eve or Christmas. And really at about 4pm the mall really wasn’t that bad and I could find a parking spot pretty easy as long as I didn’t try to park near the front doors of the mall. Thought watching the people trying to get into the mall at 7pm as a very different story then my own, there where lines of cars trying to get into the mall and I don’t think I saw a single open parking spot in my way out.
As for the movie, it was pretty damn good for one hell of a long battle sequence, thought I think it would do better once I own all three of them and can power watch them all in a row.
And then once I got home yesterday and today I have been working in building up stuff for the next LARP in the 10th of Jan. Me and The Bard have a few ideas but we need to see if they would work in this setting and how some of the other stuff is going to roll out. After all we can give the players as many lazer pointers as we want, we just need to see what ones they would like to run with. Still we have a least a week or so to figure out what we want to do and how to pull it off so I am sure we can do it!
And damn, look at that. Just hit the top of the 3rd page… maybe this writing thing will not be as hard as I thought… now the editing, that is a different story….
