rookbrosca i agree that i can see HOW it happens, but honestly it's just on those who are neurotypical to make the effort to understand, and then place that data in an equal percentage to those who can make themselves easily understood, in their own minds, when seeking it out. then again, that would require us to listen to autistics instead of their families, so i obviously can't speak towards behaviour in the community. but thats what nt people should do. yeah, i've heard it used to discredit or be a stand-in for something worse more often than anything else
