"Filthy" Brown the Loyal Dog

I've been a big fan of Rule of Rose ever since I first stumbled upon it via a playthough when I was 15. Although certain aspects of the story hasn't aged well, I still hold it dear to my heart. Since I suddenly redevelopment an interest in it during the past couple of months, I decided to doodle a little dedication piece to Brown, a good boy who deserved better.

It's been a few years since I've drawn a dog so I'm rusty. For a first attempt I think he came out decent. It's also my first finished piece this year ♡

A series of screencaps from a playthrough of Rule of Rose, a controversial ps2 survival horror game released in 2006.

In the first two images, protagonist Jennifer and her dog Brown (who appears to be a labrador) approaches a little girl named Wendy, who is tending to some white rabbits.

Jennifer is nineteen and wears her brown hair in a bun. She also wears a short skirted, long-sleeved Grey dress, black socks that go up until just under the knee, brown shoes, and a red brooch with a rose pattern on it.

Wendy looks to be between the ages of 8 and 11, and has short blonde hair. Atop her head she wears a white hat with a blue ribbon. Her dress is white, and she wears a blue button up shirt beneath it.

Narration (image one): The unlucky girl met Wendy, the lonely princess.

Narration (image two): The Princess saw that the girl was confused, so she smiled gently and said:

In the second two images, the camera focuses on Wendy as she introduces herself to Jennifer. She smiles sweetly at Jennifer, but coughs as she speaks, indicating a sickness.

Wendy: You're the new girl, aren't you?

Wendy: I'm Wendy. It's nice to meet you.
