Los Angeles Angels two-way player Shohei Ootani became the first pitcher to hit a homer while as a starting pitcher against an American League pitcher. For those who don't know, the AL instituted the Designated Hitter for the 1973 season (and beyond.) So who was the last AL pitcher to homer against another AL pitcher while pitching in the game and not playing another position?
The answer is Roric Harrison of the Baltimore Orioles homered against Cleveland Indians started Ray Lamb on the final day of the 1972 season.
