Daily Reflection #55 Milford Sound

Positives: successfully kayaking the Milford sound with our guide Tristan, his dad (who was visiting him) and Alessandra, from Milan, Italy, who we got a well deserved hot coffee and soup with after the kayak journey Challenges: leaving our forest cabin and waking up way before the rest of the world to go kayaking. Also, beating the storm that was brewing from the Tasman Sea back in. Our boat came to pick us up just in time! Best meal: we were on the road again after our amazing kayak adventure so we got take away from a local Thai restaurant in Wanaka and had a nice relaxing night in watching a movie (the Changeling) on the DVD player in our chalet Fact of the Day: the Milford Sound is not actually a sound but a fjord which means it was carved by a glacier. It is also directly on a fault line which was easily visible on our kayak ride- we paddled away from it quite rapidly Smiling moments: reaching the Tasman Sea from the start of the Milford Sound- the closest you can be to Australia while still being in New Zealand. Talking to our fellow kayakers while paddling and literally glancing in every direction on the sound, smiley day😃 also, facetiming w our families to wish them happy Passover & Easter!
