How does Emma leaving and coming back for the “nobody ever leaves Hatchetfield” theory? And her leaving at the end of TGWDLM? The hospital she’s at is supposed to be out of Hatchetfield, I thought. Super interesting theory.
You're completely correct.
I can't remember who it is, as I am on mobile but once I've posted I'll find the theoriser, but someone posted the theory that maybe only kids can leave - so if Emma left at 18 maybe that was still young enough to leave.
She does leave Hatchetfield at the end of tgwdlm and ends up in a hospital in Clivesdale however this has happened after the meteor has blown up. While we know blowing up the meteor didn't solve the issue of the Hive, maybe that act gave Emma a window where escape was possible? Or maybe whatever force was holding people in Hatchetfield had gone as the Hive were now ready to move beyond just Hatchetfield.
I dunno if I fully subscribe to the theory that no-one can leave Hatchetfield, as there are instances where its not been the case, but its certainly an interesting theory with very interesting implications.
