Rosetta Sun on TikTok comparing ZombSt Sua to Bear infuriated me so much.
I’m a new-fan to Vivinos’ Stages, but I’ve learnt enough about ZombSt Sua to be able to add my two cents to her comparison.
I think Sua does genuinely care about her relationship with Mizi because it is a co-dependency. She cannot live without Mizi but also values Mizi’s life over her own, which is why fans speculate that Sua purposefully sabotaged herself in ALNST Round 1 and the reason behind why they argued about Mizi smoking in ZombSt and Sua getting herself infected [ along with the constant kissing scenes repeated throughout Candy Scar to further show this ]
Bear, on the other hand, didn’t care about Nikki. He wanted her to love him more than anything else in the world, but immediately wanted to back out of it the second things got too hard. He didn’t know anything about Nikki, like her relationship with her dad or anything about her writing, he only wanted her artificially.
Sua and Bear are both obsessive to the person they say they love, but Sua shows that she actually cares about Mizi in a twisted way.
Rosetta Sun suggests that audiences don’t give Sua enough criticism for kissing Mizi and infecting herself in ZombSt because she’s a woman. I’ve had Sun blocked for a while, but it was also brought to my attention that Sun ships MiziTill while criticising MiziSua / Sua, so her bias is very much shown here and even may come off as lesphobic to some
Lunar's Birthday Gift to You: A BoP story every day for the month of February. Day Six: The Sins of the Father
As it turns out, one cannot simply summon every fairy in a tarot deck to see if one of them happens to be their long lost father. Only five of them ever show, and they know about as much as she does. Except... For one.
Lucy was tricky. The trickiest, in fact. Even Iris had warmed up to Dahlia, especially after discovering her lineage. Lucy was like smoke, always blowing through, never to be caught. But he was funny and seemed to really care for her in his own incredibly "Lucy" way.
Today, she was watching over Dahlia's shoulder as she wrapped the dumplings carefully. After she learned the truth of her past, she told her sisters she needed space. And space she took, in a different home far across the village. Not too far, but far enough. One of the fairies who knew the truth was almost always there. Perhaps they thought Dahlia to be smoke: she would slip away into nothing if the weight of her blood got too heavy and overtook her.
"Lucy," Dahlia said, not looking at the fairy.
"Hmmmmmm?" Lucy said, the smile in her voice evident.
"I think you're drooling. On my shoulder," she replied. "You're not getting any."
"OH buuuuut," he spoke in her ear in a sing-song voice, "I know something you don't know~!"
"I'm sure you know a lot that I don't." Dahlia set the dumplings in a pan of hot oil, the sizzle hitting her ears just right.
"Well, duh." Lucy draped his arms over Dahlia's shoulders. "But this is about your dear old dad. Don't you want to hear about that?"
Dahlia could practically hear the teasing in Lucy's voice, and she definitely did want to know what Lucy knew. It would only cost her a couple of dumplings. Seris, the true traveler of the coven, had been everywhere. She had shoved a recipe book into Dahlia's hands before she left. Seris was always very stoic, but she didn't miss the tears in her sister's eyes as she left the house.
In addition, Dahlia's dad clearly wanted nothing to do with her. Even if it would damage his reputation, her mother was long dead, her elven magic depleting until it killed her. Maybe it would be a temporary embarrassment, but she was his daughter. Shouldn't that matter to him?
Fairy rules were fundamentally different from human rules, so much so that Dahlia was struggling to keep up. Maybe it truly did not matter.
She turned over the dumplings and Lucy's stomach growled in response to the motion. She chewed on her inner cheek to stop herself from laughing.
"Before I give you any," Lucy gave her a squeeze at her words, "tell me something small about him."
Lucy hummed in acknowledgement, seeming to be lost in thought, "A lot of people don't trust him. He's sketchy."
Sketchy. Great. She'd rather her dad have been a deadbeat human instead of a sketchy, high ranking fairy.
The next hour was spent with Lucy stuffing her face, and Dahlia trying to catch any word she said while doing so. Dahlia was so grateful to the fairies who helped her, but she always felt like this particular fairy was always making things difficult for her. Some things truly never changed.
(This one was fun to write! I think it's a good break from the angst and I want to hear more speculation as to who you might think Dahlia's dad is hehe. Buuut more than that, I wanted to write a sweet moment between Dahlia and Lucy. They're bonding, as fairy and witch-fairy (I think?). I hope you enjoy!)
