Remembering the time I watched a man pick up a burger, sniff it, and then proceed to rotate it clockwise and then anticlockwise while sniffing until he finally took a bite.

I have been trying to solve the puzzle of sniff-burger rotation and how it matters how the burger tastes for so long and I have gotten no where.

It vexes me

Why do you rotate the burger while sniffing it?

What purpose does it serve?
