Chung Myung can't compare to himself

The great sword saint was a legend of immeasurable power

he was powerful and grea

He was the main to defeat the heavenly demon Cheonma.

"He holds his ability," he hears.

"The new sword saint--no demon."

Chung myung was a demon,

not a saint

Wasn't like cheong myeong who saved the world and left Mount Hua to die and rot.

Chung Myung would stay and protect his home

Be better in the ways Cheong myeong could never be.

He's not yet at the strength of the sword saint yet.

May never be.

One thing he will ensure though

no matter what he does

even if he fails.

Is ensure the plum blossom sword saint is forgotten

CM is insane. Clinically.

he would probably just beat up everyone before an overblot would even happen. If an overblot did happen the only reason the overblotte wouldn't be dead is because they're all kids to him.

So essentially, cm some how ends up in twst, and just saves the world by beating everyone up.

Thought I would share this random thought though. for funsies.

The concept of Reincarnation and Rebirth in a world that was destroyed without you (100 years of death)

Or; A Link (botw) and Chung Myung (rotmhs) character study.

These characters, although vastly different, have somewhat similar story arcs that help determine who they are as characters. With that in mind, I realized it would be interesting to cover some of the things that made them my favorite characters with factual evidence this time.

I'll probably split this into a couple different parts in order to get my thoughts together (with the finalized version being combined but for now enjoy.

(also this might suck I am not a genius by any means so feel free to give feedback.)

To begin, both characters start off with a basic or at least strongly implied death at the hands of the 'big evil'. With Chung Myung, it's directly stated/shown in the story, many times when he talks about his 'previous' life or the moment of his death.

This is somewhat opposite to Link's 'death', which is only heavily alluded to as having happened. For example, when he wakes up in the shrine of 'Resurrection', the 100 years of sleep (something no mortal could survive), the cutscene where he collapses into Zelda's arms, and lastly, the NPCs referring to his wound as a 'mortal' wound. So while he isn't directly stated to have died, like Chung Myung, it is very heavily implied that he didn't technically survive the Calamity. Back to the original point, both characters were not able to survive fighting the 'big evil'. This is far different from many other characters who usually start at the beginning of their journey, rather than at the end. With these two characters, we start off already knowing that they weren't strong enough to fight the big evil, that even at the height of their power, they couldn't compare. So while their story does have a primary arc of learning to grow in their strength, it is more focused on regaining and later surpassing the strength they had before.

Cheong Myeong Ethical Question

Consider this situation. Cheong Myeong is sent to the future just as before. All starts the same with the exception of Mount Hua.

Mount Hua is dead.

Cheong Myeong finds out about this through the beggar sect.

he also knows that the Zhangmen sect and the other great sects betrayed Mount Hua and are at least partially at fault for everything that happened after.

However--

Before all of this happens, Cheong Myeong learns the demonic cult is back.

He knows with absolute certainty that the demonic cult will kill everyone by resurrecting the heavenly demon Cheonma if he does nothing.

Keep in mind that Cm at this point is still in his Cho Sam child form.

He also can't reform Mount Hua at the moment as any attempts wouldn't work until he was an adult with power and money.

Keep also in mind that killing everyone else might cause CM to lose prematurely.

What Cheong Myeong do?

Take revenge, disregarding the consequences

Take revenge, only after defeating Cheonma by himself

Attack only the people who took over Mount Hua to take back the techniques

Take revenge, only after tricking Zhangmen into believing he is their ally

Trick Zhangmen, get attached, kill only the elders

Kill everyone but the Tang family

Leave everyone to fight the heavenly demon by themselves

Take control of the beggar sect and kill everyone else

Take control of the beggar sect and kill Cheonma

Kill Cheonma and do nothing else

Kill only the Zhangmen sect

The inconsistency of having blue eyes

His eyes are blue now.

Like clear skies.

His hair and face stay the same.

But his eyes are blue and his body is lanky and his qi is pure

It feels wrong to be who he is now.

Like an ill fitting sword or Gi.

It didn't feel right, although it should have, because his eyes were blue.

Like Chung Jin's used to be.

It didn't feel right.
