What pellet brand do you reccomend for parrotlets?
I love roudybush (size: crumbles, type: maintenence) Zeeby dove right in to them and all it took was soaking them in warm water to get mia eating them, so both the girls took to them really well! I like the ingredients list, it’s the chemical compounds of nutrients so it keeps well, ingredients don’t spoil and they’re nutritious.
Harrisons is one I plan on trying next (size: fine, type: adult lifetime) but because it’s ingredients are organic it doesn’t keep as well but is very nutritious, not a lot of fillers.
Totally Organics is pretty good but again a lot of the ingredients are not as nutrient-rich as they could be, still covers all it’s bases and I’d say it’s probably better than Zupreem just by looking at the ingredients list. It’s mainly vegetable powders and there aren’t a lot of fillers so that’s pretty good, I’d say it would be in the top three.
I often hear people suggesting Zupreem but I am not a big fan of that brand as a lot of the ingredients are dehydrated foods (lacking a lot of nutrients) which serve very little purpose to the pellet there’s also added sugar which just isn’t necessary. The bright colour of the pellets may make it easier for some birds to be interested in but there’s an excess amount of sugar used to develop those colours which just aren’t good for their health. It’s not a bad pellet, it covers it’s bases, but I wouldn’t consider it to be the best one out there. It does it’s job but it’s not as good as I feel it should be.
all in all, I love Roudybush, my birds love it, it has all the nutrients that are lacking in a captive avian diet, keeps well, has a good reputation, no random dyes or nutrition-less ingredients.
