Harry frowns. “Ask you what?”

Louis presses his lips into a line. “Don’t you want to ask me if I killed her?”

Harry narrows his eyes. “To be frank with you Louis, I don’t really have time for that. And even if I did, I don’t really care.”

Louis’ brows raise in shock, but he seems to mask it quickly enough. “You’re planning to defend me in court and you don’t even want to know if I’m guilty of a heinous crime?” Louis sounds genuinely curious.

(Or the one where human lawyer Harry Styles is defending Louis Tomlinson, a witch accused of using black magic to kill another witch. Louis most definitely uses black magic, but Harry believes him when he says he didn’t kill anyone. Can they prove Louis’ innocence before the real killer gets to them first?)

There’s been three years since he‘s seen Louis, and it feels like he‘s watching a totally different person. The cracks of the Louis he knew are still there, he can still see his Louis. He still knows the quirks, even if they‘ve shifted over time.

Louis is masking his emotions, he‘s always done so with Harry. He never let on more than he allowed himself to, not wanting to bother Harry. It took so long for Harry to break down that mask, and it hurts to see it‘s been reconstructed. This mask seems stronger than his old one.

„So that’s why you‘ve crashed my tour?“ Louis tilts his head to the side, face still emotionless. „To win me back after three years? Do you really think that’ll work?“

Louis isn't as lost in ruminations as Harry is, smirking. “Is this all the recording is? Giggling and classical piano? No wonder you've not got any song ideas.” Harry has to physically restrain himself from playfully shoving at Louis, curling his hand into a fist under his leg, and says instead, “Hey, this was your idea.” Louis shrugs, smiling, and makes a move to turn the tape off when Harry’s voice suddenly starts singing, actual English words forming sentences.
