A couple of weeks later, Vada decides to make amends with Rowan...

VADA- “I am sorry Rowan that I try to push you away from witch business, but just because you aren’t a witch, doesn’t mean we can’t be friends.  I mean we are almost like sisters, right?”

ROWAN- “Are you okay?  You are acting weird, Vada.”

VADA- “I am trying to apologize to you Rowan.  We need to stick together and I mean someday we WILL be family, so we shouldn’t argue.”

ROWAN- “You argue, not me...and what do you mean by we will be family?”

VADA- “You will find out soon enough, come on, let’s go swing.”

Vada got up to check it out, to make sure everything was okay.  She had never really used the crystal, it was mostly for decoration...but when she got closer she saw something in it!!  A face, someone she had no idea who it was...a male...and then like that the image was gone, and the crystal acted like it was shutting down....

Now she would be up all night....AGAIN....

ROWAN- “You are home late, where have you been.  Dad is really upset with you.”

VADA- “What’s new, he is always upset with me.”

ROWAN- “Because you don’t follow the rules, Vada.  You are going to get us all killed.”

VADA- “No one in this house is going to die, Rowan, trust me.”

ROWAN- “So where were you?  At Javier’s?”

VADA- “No, Senor Maldonado sent him away.”

ROWAN- “Because of you!?”

VADA- “Not JUST because of me. Anyway, I am tired, I need to go to bed.”

ROWAN- “So where were you?”

VADA- “If you have to know I was at Angel’s. We had things to talk about. Plus I was teaching him a spell.”

ROWAN- “Why do you hate me, Vada?  I’ve done nothing to you, ever, except try to be your friend. And now, I finally find someone who cares about me, and you swoop in...”

VADA- “I am not swooping, Rowan. Angel was my friend before he was your BOY-friend. And you have nothing to worry about, all he did was talk about you all evening. I have no intentions on taking him away from you, and even if I did, it wouldn’t happen.  For some insane reason, the boy likes you.  And by the way, I don’t hate you.”

ROWAN- “If something bad is going to happen, you should tell my dad, Vada!”

VADA- “I don’t know if it is bad or not. I can’t see it clearly, and I am not going to tell your dad until I know for sure.”

ROWAN- “He really should know.

VADA- “I knew I shouldn’t have told you anything!  Your dad shouldn’t know Rowan!  If he knows then things could be even worse, You have to promise me that you won’t tell anyone!’

ROWAN- “Vada, if something is going to happen bad, I have to tell him!”

VADA- “I SAID NO!”

Vada grabbed a ball from the yard and cast a spell on it and threw it at Rowan, it didn’t hurt her, but it wiped her memory of their conversation.... Rowan became scared and ran off to her house....

ROWAN- “This is fun, Vada...what’s wrong you don’t seem like you are having fun?”

VADA- “Sometimes I wish I didn’t have powers, Rowan. Sometimes I wish I was like you. Knowing things is not all that much fun.”

ROWAN- “I knew something was wrong, and I am not even a witch.  I can tell that there is something really bothering you.  Is it that your parents are planning on that new baby?”

VADA- “Kind of...can I tell you something and you not say anything?”

ROWAN- “Sure, Vada. What is it?”

VADA- “There is not going to be another baby around here. Things are changing, but not like that. I am not sure exactly but I just know.”

ROWAN- “What do you mean, no baby, but they are planning on one.”

VADA- “I just know it’s not going to happen.  I don’t know why or how, but my mom and dad are going to be going away, and we are all going to move far away, Rowan.”

ROWAN- “You mom Esther and Dad Cyrus?”

VADA- “Yeah... I don’t know where, but I don’t see another baby in their future at all. I see all kinds of things, but that is not one of them.  I am worried actually.”

ROWAN- “You should tell my dad, Vada.  If something is going to happen, he should know.”

Baron Goth was a few months younger than Vada, and not quite as powerful. But Aron knew that his son would some day be a vital part of the realm, even if he wasn’t the Realm Master, which probably would fall upon Vada.

Baron’s twin sister, Rowan Goth had shown no signs of abilities or gifts, but many times those powers would not appear until they were teenagers, or even young adults. However, Aron’s duty was to these children and Vada if the realm was to survive into the next generation.

ESTHER- “Baron you and Rowan should probably head on home, it is getting late.”

VADA- “Mom, Rowan won’t go home...Baron and I have witch business to discuss, and she isn’t a witch and it doesn’t concern her...”

ROWAN- “Vada says that you and my mom don’t know anything because you two aren’t witches either. “

BARON- “Miss Esther, it’s important.  Vada has to tell me something and Rowan won’t understand---

ESTHER- “Baron, Vada knows better, and you do as well. We do not treat other’s differently just because they are not like you.  You and your sister go on home, and Vada, you need to get ready for bed.”

VADA- “Rowan....you ruin everything!  Now I won’t be able to tell Baron. Why don’t you just listen to me when I tell you something!?”

ROWAN- “Because you are not my boss!”

BARON- “We can talk tomorrow Vada.”

ESTHER- “Yes, that is a good idea, Baron, now you two get on home before your mother calls me wanting to know why you are here so late.  And Miss Vada, you are in trouble.”

Vada went to bed, and unlike most nights, she fell right off to sleep.  Rowan sat up for a bit and finally couldn’t keep her eyes open any longer and laid down.  As she turned off the lights, the crystal became even more enlightened...and almost a humming noise came from it.  Rowan was not about to see what it was doing...she was afraid of it, as it had been doing this quite a bit lately...

ROWAN- “Vada...?   Are you asleep?  Vada?  Your crystal is really creeping me out....VADA!!!”

VADA- “WHAT!!  I was asleep, the first time in weeks, this better be important...what the hell???

ROWAN- “Your crystal is going crazy, can you turn it off?”
