Shiv is married to Tom and has a daughter with him

Shiv was never happy with Tom, the only time she felt love for something that had anything to do with him was when she gave birth to their daughter; Rosanna. Even then, she always saw Rosanna as her own, special creation.

You were her slightly younger secretary. You were kind and pretty, and you’d always bring her breakfast every morning. She ignored the flutters in her stomach every time she saw you, but what she couldn’t ignore was the fact those flutters never showed up when she was with Tom.

The second Shiv confirmed she had to have you was when she saw you keeping her daughter company out in the lobby one day. You were so effortless with her it was heartwarming, even to the heartless Siobhan Roy.

“Did Tom drop her off on you? I’m sorry, he’s a useless bastard.” You giggled the best you could with Rosanna’s little hands pressing your cheeks together. To the public, Tom and Shiv were epic— legendary even, but she only expressed her disdain for him to you.

“He did, but it’s okay. I knew you were busy, so I kept her entertained.” You smiled, watching Rosanna go to Shiv. “She’s adorable.” Shiv smiled at you, cradling her daughter lovingly.

Shiv was always touchy with you, you were used to it. To be honest, you looked forward to it. But one night at a corporate event neither of you wanted to be at, Shiv had too much to drink and you were trying to take care of her privately in the bathroom. Shiv, all drunk and honest, pulled you in and kissed you.

That was the start of the affair. Shiv would encourage her father to send Tom off on business trips, then you would come over and spend the night for two days. At night, you and Shiv would worship each other and in the morning, you would make breakfast for Shiv and Rosanna (who adored you).

You felt so wrong about the entire situation. Yes, Tom was an ass, but you were the opposite— which was why you felt guilty and ashamed of yourself for wanting your boss so badly. When Shiv inevitably found out about this, she immediately reassured you gently— something she’d never done for any of her lovers.

“You shouldn’t feel guilty. Tom is a narcissistic, selfish man. I have plans to divorce him someday anyway. Rosie loves you, I—“ she stopped herself, “I care about you. So don’t worry about Tom’s feelings.” She would say, holding your hand tightly.

Blinded by her love for you, Shiv got bold. It wasn’t just her bringing you to her home anymore, it was her abandoning work to take lunch with you despite you two having different break times. What was even more risky was you and her having quickies in her office.

The day Tom found out was coincidentally the day Shiv had the divorce papers ready. You’d left your pajamas at Shiv’s home and Tom knew something so frilly didn’t belong to his unfaithful wife. When he confronted Shiv about it over dinner, she simply handed him the papers and told him where to sign. Tom being Tom demanded he’d drag her through the mud, take Rosanna, but he was all bite.

Shiv told you everything the next night over dinner. The tone in her voice suggested she was holding back joy.

“So where does that leave us?” You asked, wanting to know what was going through her brain. Siobhan smiled and grasped your hand.

“I want to be with you of course. I know all this sneaking around hasn’t been easy, and things definitely won’t be easy with eyes on us so heavily now. But we’ll have each other.” A small smile spread across your face.

“And Rosie.” You counted. Shiv giggled— something she seldom did.

“And Rosie.”

the writers making shiv trip was actually so nasty and targeted. why did they do that????

the thing that fucks me up about connor roy the most is his alienation from his own family which is a blessing and a curse all at once. he can't really relate to his siblings, which makes him unable to relate to anyone at all, but he can't be separated from them either. he's dismissed by his father in a way no other of his siblings have been. if logan keeps shiv, kendall and roman at an arms length with his hand on their necks, connor only exists for him on the periphery of his sight, pushed too far away to care to reach, but close enough to not be outside of the picture. he still got affected by his father's abuse and he still longs for his father's approval, but the distance between them allowed him to not be desperate enough to revolve his entire life in logan's orbit. he's got his own stuff going on even if the need to be seen and chosen rules his actions. and I love his line "I'm gonna listen the only person in this room who doesn't think I'm a joke" because he's the only one of his siblings for whom it's actually enough
