Geez, it's so long since I've watched Elena last. Gotta catch up soon. And more in order because I skipped the Jewel of Maru but I will get to it later. But now it's time to tell you about my opinion about the Royal Rivalry.
I love this episode. First it's packed with cameos of a LOT characters and action and funny situations. I feel like I have seen an hour-long special but at the same time I kinda want more even though I got the proper closure.
We got two new characters who are very flashy. Well, this is Elena we're talking about the whole cast is more or less flashy - even the more somber ones are passionate and cheerful - there is not a single one that could be described as shy or gloomy. But it's the charm of the show and it doubles the hilarity of the situations.
Valentina, the new princess is like Elena but more: even prouder, more impulsive, more competitive, brags about her land etc. Of course, in the end it's revealed that she puts this super extra brave face on in front of Elena because she's almost an idol for Valentina, a sort of living legend and Valentina is a bit fed up of standing in her shadow. The confession felt a bit forced but otherwise I have no complains.
Val's song was awesome. Full of life and passion. As much as I like harmony in my beloved cast it was funny to see Valentina pissing off everyone. Even Armando and Francisco got mad! XD
Kudos to the script writer for not forgetting to develop the realtionship between Esteban and Naomi. My darlings were given a generous amount of screen time and stole the spotlight a few times.
Esteban: "I apologize for all the bad things I said behind your back."
Naomi: "And I apologize for all the bad things I said to your face."
(this and the 'we're alive' hug are alone reasons to watch this episode)
Adorable episode with adorable antagonists. Animated dog statues that wreck havoc with their doggy clumsiness. They can come wreck havoc in my town, too. :3
Then I like the parallels between the teams/plots. The good guys argue but in the end the good will prevails and they achieve victory through cooperation whereas the bad guys can't agree on a thing which leads to their loss that came even before they made any progress in ther devious plan. Hehe.
