The close proximity of Kohimarama Tennis Club means The Eatery at Eastridge is a great place to repair to after an indifferent game of tennis. Uncle has been to Temakeria most often, seduced by the Karaage Chicken Salad and Temakis, especially the vegan kimchi tofu. The temakis are cleverly constructed in a cone, and wrapped in nori and garnished with sisho leaf. On another visit, Uncle tried the Kimchi Pancake. It didn’t disappoint. Well done Rodrigo and Jenny, (previously of Temaki Truck) for your blend of Brazilian, Japanese & Korean cuisines. If you’re craving something sweet, Dani Butler’s The Pie Piper is there for you, or for visiting Aunty Renee from Nelson. After much deliberation, she chose the Cinnamon and Chocolate Chip Roll. Last time I looked, she was licking all her fingers. Royal-G (“Not Your Mum’s Indian” ) has been winning fans ever since they opened their unique brand of Indian-inspired food. We have tried the Kati Rolls, Parsi Eggplant to be percise: Black dahl, smoked yoghurt, crisp chickpea, raw cauliflower & pomegranate seed. Uncle will have this again, just for the crisp chickpea. The Laneway Salad has cucumber & blackened radish, coriander stalk, curry leaf oil & pappadum salt. We have also tried Uncle Man. Suffice to say there were initial teething problems and harsh criticism from a bevy of Malaysian Aunties who know their Malaysian makan. Uncle had the Nasi Lemak. #theeateryateastridge #temakeria #chickenharaagesalad #piepiper #royalg #katiroll #lanewaysalad (at Temakeria) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bvn5BhalEJU/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1yqm7p3cv35n
