“And wot’s got you so glum?” Doll asked, leaning against a couple of boxes she was supposed to have moved. “You feelin’ awright, Smile?”

“And this is the main food tent!” Doll said, to the girl whom her family as recently saved. Doll was developing a habit of trying to befriend those who were recently inducted into the Circus, especially those who had a story similar to her own. “So, what do ya think? It ain’t much, but it’s ‘ome.”

“Smile! You should put more food on your plate, you know! You won’t grow up big and strong like me with small portions!” Doll said, shoveling her leftover sausages onto the boy’s plate without hesitation. “We’ll get some life in ya soon, we will.”

“Are ya ‘ere ta buy tickets, sir?” Doll asked, cheerfully at the person in front of her. “The show starts in a couple a’ hours now, but you’re welcome ta come the main tent if ye wish!”

“My, tha’ sure was a busy night last night, wasn’t it? I think we were sold out!” Doll said, excitedly to the person next to her. “It didn’t tire ya out too bad, though, did it?”

“Ah, ya must be from the German Branch, yeah?” Doll said, extending a hand out to the young woman in front of her. Doll had been sent to the country for a couple months for more field experience. “Nice ta meet’cha. M’ names Doll - er, Christina. I'm from the England branch.” That would be the name that was listed in her files.
