Being a pacifist in a world that runs on cartoon violence is…difficult for Olive, to say the least. She’s genuinely invested in the well being of people and the preservation of Palette, but trying to put on a happy face all the time just makes her a ticking time bomb of suppressed fury, especially since she’s among the few Drewmans who actually makes an effort to stop others from doing stupid things.

Fun Facts

Olive’s surname is derived from manzanilla, the Spanish diminutive for apple, but it’s also partially derived from “manchineel”, a highly poisonous fruit that superficially resembles an apple (and is indeed named after the Spanish word).

Olive is one of several characters to change her name and color in development. Initially, she was Saffron, Ocean (seafoam green), then Coral (the only bit of concept art of her in this stage is a non colored palette swap of Ocean, so including her picture is entirely pointless).

Olive’s hippie attributes were initially part of Lyman’s characterization before being cut. Her massive pupils are recycled from a prototype of his.

Olive’s redesign is the final S2 major character designed for It’s Color Theory.

Olive’s a vegetarian. Not for ethical reasons, since all the flesh on Palette is drawn anyway, she’s just hideously allergic to meat.
