I was gonna suggest robber bridegroom as well, but reading your tags, I will throw all my support behind donkeyskin bc that is a huge major favorite of mine. I also enjoyed Snow-white and Rose-red, to continue pulling from Grimm fairy tales o3o

Donkeyskin is so good is the thing :’)

But it’s also really fucked up from the start and I feel like I don’t have the spoons or writing chops to pull off a good retelling at this point in time. Or maybe ever. I’ll just stare at it longingly from a distance.

Right? That’s so like, arrogant in a way? Imagine your community disbanding and your sliver of authority being taken away, but still trying to control what people say about you? I get something like that if it’s a smaller friend group cuz then revealing stuff that was said in private would be a dick move, but here? Bruh. Who are you trying to protect?
