Studio: Revenge of Space, Image & Sound - Week 9 - 11
These past three weeks have been very intense with client projects.
Altogether I had three client projects; The Twitter Jacket & the interactive table pieces that were at AUT’s Excellence in Business Support Awards on Oct 4th, and the LED Bra Chandelier for Sweet Louise that was installed at Orakei Bay Village on Oct 11th.

These projects have benefitted my name as a Creative Technologist greatly as there have been fantastic connections come from it and publicity in the Herald and my local newspaper.
It has taught me a lot about working with clients, figuring out the scope of a project, and has broadened my skills of physical making by working with new materials such as aluminium.
Of course, this has also built my portfolio which I hope will help with recruiters when I graduate.
This did take longer than I expected though. Altogether it has taken 4 weeks to complete and has kept me away from uni work. In previous blogs, I keep saying that I knew this would happen and made sure I could leave it, but there will always be the question of what it could become/what I could’ve done more of if I did not do these client projects. One could then argue what’s more important, getting a better mark for uni, or building my name in the industry.
I think if I complete it to the standard I imagined at the start of the semester (pretty high to be honest), I will be happy with my project.
I don’t feel stressed though.
I know exactly what I need to do and the steps to take. Luckily for my project, I’m just making and don’t need to complete research/contextual statement which can be the most draining thing to do and the end of the semester.
It does feel nice to be back to studio work. Making my final project one that I was passionate about has kept me motivated, whereas I don’t think I could power through it if I wasn’t.
