Rustboro City, Hoenn → December 22
There’s this dream that’s been bothering him, dry vermilion earth underfoot and an upside-down waterfall at his back. He spends a long time there, in the dream, blue eyes locked with Giratina’s red, a comforting flutter of shadows around the edge of his consciousness. He always wakes with a word on his lips, like Giratina’s trying to tell him something, except that’s... impossible. Not once during his stay in that other world had Giratina showed itself capable of speech.
Yesterday, it had been leave. The days before, stop. Today, at the Rustboro coffee shop Maxie had left him at while ‘checking up on old assets’ at Devon Corp, Cyrus startles awake over a lukewarm cup of tea with a name:
If he murmurs it aloud, it’s soft enough that no one else in the cafe hears. He feels shaken, like something awful is about to happen or it already has. Something is wrong. Cyrus’s lungs constrict, and he can swear his heart stops for a minute, like time has stopped or a ripple has gone through him, the same feeling as when he had been transported through space to Turnback Cave with Proton. Except he’s still here, everyone is still here--
And everyone else in the cafe seems to have felt it too. There are a few surprised grunts from the other patrons. An elderly woman clutches at her chest, winded as Cyrus was. The teenager behind the counter drops the cups in his hands, paper bouncing across the tile floor.
He hears the echo of his phone ringing before it goes off.
Event → ??? → Spacial Rend
Most characters will have felt the ripple in space. It will have been stronger for those currently in Kanto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh.
Those in Viridian, Veilstone, and near Mt. Chimney, will have just witnessed the destruction of Rocket, Galactic, and Magma’s HQs. Building infrastructure seems to have been warped and twisted beyond repair, causing collapses and destruction of Team facilities. There were more than a few casualties, mostly grunts and scientists, and more walked away injured. At this time there were no deaths of canons or established characters, just unmentioned npcs!
Within a few hours of the event, Cyrus was able to confirm the cause of the destruction: A Spacial Rend sent off by Palkia. The legendary was also likely responsible for the transportation and strange weather events from previous updates. Cyrus has had messages sent out to all Rocket/Galactic/Magma members, briefing them on the situation.
At this time, temporarily, operations at Galactic have been relocated to the building in Eterna, and Rocket to Celdaon. Magma has not been officially relocated, but is congregating in nearby Lavaridge Town.
The surrounding buildings and parts of Veilstone and Viridian have also been damaged, but not to the extent of the Team HQs.
Emergency news reports quickly followed on all major news stations and online outlets, covering the events.

Another update will be coming soon, containing some media coverage of the event by Malva, so stay tuned.
It’s advisable to keep your characters away from Mt. Chimney for the time being.
If your character was in one of the affected cities at the time of the Spacial Rend, if you would like to have your character injured as a result, ask a staff member and we’ll likely okay it! Otherwise, your character was lucky and got through unscathed.
New threads should be set between Dec. 22 and Dec. 31 (in-game time). Please do not start any interactions set after this yet.
