Race to the Edge 30 Day Challenge Day 26: New Redemption Arc

so we all saw someone save Hiccup from falling off a cliff (again), and if we look closely we can clearly see that it’s Ryker who saves him. i am actually super excited to see how this redemption arc is going to play out! it will be really interesting to watch Ryker turn on his own brother and possibly join the Dragon Riders. if Ryker ends up killing Viggo, that will be so damn satisfying. but that might be a couple seasons away, so we’ll see!

Race to the Edge 30 Day Challenge Day 13: Favorite Prediction

now by the time the rtte crew gets the booklet this may already happen in season 4 (because i seem to have the uncanny ability to predict something for the next season), but i will predict it anyway and put it in the booklet. so consider this my first official prediction for season 4 that isn’t a rehashed one from previous season predictions: dagur will return. hiccup will hug him and start crying. it will be very very emotional.

also, i’m giving credit to Kibbitzer on DeviantART, because i used a pose from one of their drawings as a reference (i cannot draw hugs for shit). go check out their gallery!

so uh i’ve had this idea in my head since the other day, when we heard about how in the next season, Viggo has a “pricey bounty” on Hiccup’s head. i’m not sure if Viggo wants him dead or alive tbh, i guess we’ll see a week from this friday!

i sorta based this character design off a design i found somewhere.. but i can’t remember where!! i want to credit the original artist. if anyone knows how to find a source via just one picture, please let me know.

so if anyone knows about that ship in the Voltron fandom called Lancelot, you can see where i drew inspiration from. this guy is a bounty hunter who more or less falls in love with hiccup once he catches him. i loved drawing hiccup’s face in this. he’s just “i have so many questions right now.”

How would you feel if there is another love triangle between Heather, Hiccup, and Astrid in RTTE?

There wasn’t really one the first time, I don’t think.  Astrid was jealous, but I think it was more because suddenly no one was listening to her and instead listening to Heather, I don’t think it was as romantically fraught as a love triangle implies. 

And I’m torn about it happening in rtte.  Because if some trite love triangle thing happened, well, at least that’s some hiccstrid development.  That’s some jealousy and adolescent emotion.  But I also fear that it would be more annoying than it would be well developed.  

But honestly, this is my super unpopular opinion, but I LOVE love triangles.  Love them.  Yes, they’re overdone, but maybe we keep going back to them for a reason, because they’re amazing.  I love stupid rom-com misunderstandings and teenage angst.  If there were some eye-roll-worthy love triangle, I would pause to make myself some popcorn before devouring it like I devour ya post apocalyptic trilogies with love triangles.  

So, I feel that it would be detrimental to the overall story of the series, I feel that they should spend their time differently because they have so much plot to fill in between Defenders and the second movie...but damn would I enjoy it.

Hello there, do you have any tips on how to write hearbreaking angst (like fester) stories. BTW Do you think heather and hiccup will have way more interactions in the new season?

Tips to write angst:  I think angst is saddest when there’s no real villain and everyone’s actions are understandable.  That hits me way harder than a story with someone you can blame.  Blameless angst shoots me straight through.  

I’m decently sure that Heather is going to get all sorts of bad ass screen time, punching all the people Astrid and Ruffnut should get to punch first.  I’m sure she and Hiccup will have plenty of witty and perfectly orchestrated conversations in which they are both so devastatingly awesome and bad ass and pretty much like, the koolest kats around.
