Cowabunga!! This was one of our most favorite sites in Laos: Kuang Si Waterfalls. The lay of the land is rolling waterfalls and pools of seafoam green water. It's a miraculous site with frolicking kids from 2-102 years young swimming and meandering around. You could definitely spend all day here - we spent 4 hours there and STILL did not have enough time. There's a vigorous hike to the top and a three mile hike to some caves... He's such a happy and lovable dude! He's got these pet-inducing pheromones especially around the kitties. It always makes me laugh because even though he claims that he isn't a pet person, he always is so calm, gentle, and loving. I'm going to miss this guy for the next 24 hours while he takes a solo trip ton Muang Ngoi Neua. Which is a Lao town along the Nam Ou in Louangphrabang Province about an hour boat ride away from me. The current population is about 700, and of Lao Loum ethnicity.  He's planning to hike out to an even more remote village, check out some caves, and just Adventure it up. I, on the other hand, am planning to stay in the metropolis of Nong Khiaw to do a little writing, cooking classes, and maybe even experience my first herbal steam bath!! Nong Khiaw has a plenty of charm, a decent range of accommodation, plus conveniences such as 24 hour electricity. 🤸 But I was completely exaggerating about it being a metropolis... It is in comparison to Muang Ngoi, but it is still quite a small village. Traveling partners lesson 101: Always make time for yourselves and for you each to have time apart. It's like the tried and true adage, "absence makes the heart grow fonder."
