[OH, YEAH. SPANISH PAPRIKA, GRANULATED GARLIC. RUBBED SAGE. A LITTLE ONION POWDER, CORIANDER, DRIED GINGER, CUMIN AND WE GOT THREE FLAVORS OF PEPPER--]
YESSS, okay mah Penzeys order got here!!!!
We picked up a couple of the sale gift cards, and because it was only a few dollars to free shipping, I tossed a 1/2 cup jar of Albanian Rubbed Sage in too since I'd never tried theirs before.
Interesting thing here, I had just bought a jar of McCormick Rubbed Sage the day before, because rubbed sage is hardly ever in stock around here, no matter the brand.
I still hadn't opened it when the Penzeys stuff got here today, so let's do a little comparison, shall we?
M'kay, first off, you can smell the Penzeys sage from the next room when you open the jar. It's strong and sharp and sage-y, just like it should be!
The McCormick... Sorta smells like it's been sitting unsealed in the back of the cupboard for six months. It's stale. I just opened this like five minutes ago.
And the difference in quantity is stark as well. The McCormick is only 2/3rds full.
The Penzeys is PACKED full.
And it isn't very clear in the pics, but the McCormick sage is a lot paler and dusty, while the Penzeys sage is darker and has no dusted sage bits at ALL that I can see.
The sheer difference in quality is stark, and, get this, THE MCCORMICK COSTS MORE.
I paid 5.69 for the .8 oz Penzeys jar. I paid 5.97 for the .5 oz McCormick jar.
Food I Make #misstuggy: Lentils

--ruling: yeah! next time we might try veggies and miso with the lentils
