Posting this WIP so y'all don't think this tumblr is dead lol

These are my redesigns for how the girls look when seperated in Vol 4, when they're at their lowest And then how these outfits change once they get back on their feet and find each other again!

And a bonus lil Nora and Pyrrha redesigns, aka the only members of Team JNPR I care about lol

Team RWBY redesigns for v1-3!

I don't watch RWBY, I kind feel like I'm trespassing here- I've only seen the first two volumes and that was a while ago so I hardly remember shit. But like. I saw this youtuber a little while ago post a video where they critiqued a shit ton of Team RWBY redesigns their fans had done and I was like "I wanna do that, that sounds fun" and then I lost interest immediately after I finished designing Ruby. And that was a couple months ago or something, maybe longer. But here it is. Have at it.

What inspired you when redesigning the RWBY gang? I’d especially like to hear your thought process on Blake and Ruby

I never posted this but I also did Ruby and Weiss in anime too!

Pure 90s anime and fighting games like Guilty Gear and Street Fighter. Rwby is HEAVILY inspired by anime, and I just wanted to go all out with that aesthetic. Flashy, colourful and technically no practical, but looking so cool while doing it.

I also wanted to try and veer these designs away from how uh... male gaze-y the originals are. As iconic as they are, you can tell that a man designed these. Weiss running into combat wearing a STRAPLESS dress haunts me. Combat skirts are perfectly acceptable, but a strapless dress is not.

Ruby herself is the least interesting to talk about, design wise, because I've really not changed her. OG Ruby is extremely solid. I'm honestly kinda disapointed in myself for not changing her more, I really struggled with it. But maybe that just shows that Ruby's first look is really just that good. The main thing I wanted to change was her hair. I don't LOVE the gradient since you can barely see it, but it's a shame that she's the only member of team RWBY who's hair doesn't represent her colour. So she gets a fun cap, that also serves to hide her wolf ears!

Blake was a lot of fun to redesign, because her canon design really isn't much. It's fine but it's not much. I wanted to change up her silhouette from Yang's by tying up her hair and then making her fucking huge. Suuuuuper tall. That was just for me. Then I put her in mostly black, which is something the show hasn't figured out how to do yet. I wanted her to look sleek and sporty, with nothing hindering her movements. I love herrr

Ruby Rose Volumes 4-6 Redesign

Ok, finally done redesign her Mistral design :D! It was actually a pretty fun experiment to do, even if it was time consuming lol. Again, as said her design is pretty much almost the same as her Vale design but with a few tweaks such as her dress being a light-ish shade of dark gray and the sleeves not being as long thanks to the environment she’ll be traveling in at least in volumes 4 and 5. And lastly, I kept the cape itself she wore from Vale the same, I just made it a little tattered, because I personally it’d be a very prized possession to her (I head-canon Summer gave it to her) and even with it being tattered she’d wanna wear it.

Here’s my redesign of her Mistral design compared to her actual Mistral design. Now…next will be Weiss, so be on the look out for any rough drafts of my Weiss redesign!

Advice is encouraged on how I could make this design better.
