Ruby-Crowned Kinglet in the Camellias It is very hot this week in PDX so I'm thinking about birds I saw in winter--the ruby-crown kinglet was a fun visitor to my garden, the little red crest popping up out of a very tiny and simple-looking bird was a delightful surprise!

I suspect this one is a female because I saw no trace of a ruby crown in any of my photos, although it is hidden in the males most of the time.

Also this is as close as they ever come to standing still.
