RIP Ken Spears 1938-2020
Animation veteran Ken Spears has died at age 82. Just a few months ago, his partner Joe Ruby died at 87. The two of them co-created Scooby Doo and created loads of great shows with their Ruby-Spears Productions company. I loved Scooby Doo growing up and now my son enjoys watching it as well.

420. Scruffy (1980)
3/10
The honor of being the 420th review goes to this mediocre dog movie, about an abandoned dog and her puppy who search for their owners. Some talented animators clearly worked on this, though it’s only TV-level animation. The designs of several characters are ripped from Lady and the Tramp, and perhaps that is to be expected, but what made me laugh out loud was the scene in which the mother dog gets shot by hunters, which is almost shot-for-shot the same as the scene in Bambi, down to the snow.
Mega Man (also known as Ruby-Spears Mega Man) is a Japanese cartoon from the 90's multi-produced by Capcom, Ruby-Spears Productions, Ashi Productions, and Ocean Productions. The TV series began on 11 September, 1994 and ended on 10 December, 1995. Two seasons were produced with a third planned but black of funding forced them to quit early instead. Reruns of this show were on first-run syndication channels* and ran until 19 May, 1996. Episodes were released on VHS by Sony Wonder in January 1995, and then the entire series was released on 2 DVD sets by ADV Films in 2003. Both of those sets are now out-of-print, and in 2009 ADV Films re-released the first half but was shut down in 2009. Discotek Media released the entire series on 30 September, 2014. *the licensing of the right to broadcast television programs and radio programs by multiple television stations and radio stations, without going through a broadcast network.
